We are just back from two days at DLand and DCA. Stayed at the Comfort Inn Maingate. Ate at several places, most notably Ariel's Grotto (aka Avalon Cove), Storyteller's Cafe (my favorite!), Taste Pilots grill, Whitewater cafe.... I will do a trip report later this week. Any questions?

Would love to hear a full trip report too! We are going in April.

Did you think 2 days was enough for a visit. We are trying to figure out how long we should plan to stay.

Thanks!
DJ

We actually only did 1-1/2 days. We didn't get to the parks till well after noon the first day. But we went on a cruise following. I would much rather have done more days as I really like doing all the rides more than a few times. It was very crowded - we were there the weekend after new years, 1/3 and 1/4. And if it weren't crowded, we may have been able to do more rides and see more stuff. We also were just exhausted from our regular home lives and had some family obligations the second day, so we didn't stay very late in the parks, even though they were open late. The convenience of the ART transit system and the park hopper passes was AWESOME.... More later in my trip report.

How was Ariel's Grotto? We will be trying it for the first time next week.

The food was ok - not great - ok. The receptionist/hostess was initially rude. We had made reservations for 6:30 (MAKE SURE YOU MAKE RESSIES!) and went by at about 6 and asked if we could be seated. She was kind of nasty and said no. So we left and came back 25 minutes later, and she was fine....
The character interaction was WONDERFUL! DH and I are childless, but they spent a good amount of time with us, making us laugh and being fun. And it was VERY crowded that night. I had a blast with that part. DH ordered fish, didn't like it much - standard fish sticks kind of fare. I ordered the Surf BLT (I think that's what it's called - bacon with Salmon). It was a little better than ok. The soup was only ok - I had the cheesy onion. The dessert was pretty good - but my fave was the cotton candy....
I have heard varied reviews of the food there - some good, some bad.
I would go again, just for the great character interaction.
