We're back from CBR - disappointed with luggage service

I guess my -> :lmao: <- smiley wasn't clear enough that I was joking.

and THEY do an amazing job overall, IMO.

Chances are you wouldn't be saying that if you were the one whose luggage was left out in the rain. I'm just sayin'. We all base our opinion of a company on our own personal experiences. Therefore IMHO they suck.

No you weren't, you were picking up on what you interpreted as an inaccuracy. Which is fine...that was your take on it.

As I mentioned, I have seen carts of bags sitting in the pouring rain on Airport tarmacs..are we all going to never check a bag in when we fly either?

I am merely stating that overall I think they have a pretty good track record. But as an above poster said, if the 'chance' that your bags might show up later than you wish or perhaps get a little wet for some reason, don't use them! Not Rocket science...easy solution.

We can each only relate to what we have experienced as well as those we know of:confused3

Ok knock it off =-> EVERYONE.

Must we pick apart anybody who reports a negative experience? Hows about just presuming that they had a negative experience. Just because our experience doesn't mirror theirs, that doesn't make theirs any less valid... AND the same in reverse.

Posts have been deleted and infractions issued. Please be more respectful of your fellow posters. There is no need for the 'one ups manship' I saw in this thread.

The topic of the thread is 'Bad luggage service at CBR' - thanks.

We've used ME for 4 trips, no problems.

Disney states it can take up to 3 hours for bags to arrive. Many sites, this one included, indicate late bag arrival is not uncommon.

For our trips, we have always arrived around noon. If you are arriving later, that could be the reason for delays, just a thought.

This is not a show stopper, imo. If having your luggage is very important, don't use the service. For us, we like to get to the resort and head to the parks as soon as possible. IMO, ME is great for us in that regard. Land, head to ME, get on a bus, check in at resort, drop carry-ons in room (or leave at front desk until later), and head to the parks! Awesome.

If we had headed to the parks I probably wouldn't even have noticed that they were late, but we never head to the parks the day we arrive, even when we've driven as usually we're so tired & just head to the pool. If it had been just me & my DH we wouldn't have cared either, but when I had a 3 year old that was exhausted & we wanted to put to bed, I didn't want them showing up late. I had figured on an average of 3 hours after check-in, it just didn't happen to our disappointments & then to top it off with what happened at custom house & no bell hop, it just made me weary of their luggage service. I'm not mad or anything, just disappointed, so as others pointed out, we won't use the luggage service again & will claim our bags instead & take that happening again out of the equation.

It is unfortunate now though that when people ask me how the luggage service was I will have to tell them what happened to me. My cousin is going with 8 other people in November & I had to tell him what happened when he asked & I have another cousin leaving in February & again, I advised them not to use the luggage service unless you don't care when your bags show up.

It didn't ruin our trip by any means, just a bad start, but what can you do?

If the luggage service works for you then great :) , but for us, it didn't work out & left a bad taste in our mouth. No matter who's fault it was, we won't use them again.

We booked the bounceback offer when we were there & next September, we'll claim our own bags, no harm done, it's only claiming bags which we have always done in the past when we've travelled & never found it to be a big deal :cool2:

The perspective of traveling with kids adds a new light to the luggage service that DME offers.

Personally, I travel as a single adult and usually have one checked suitcase and a carry on. The carry on contains the bare minimum I need to get by - a change or two of clothes, fresh socks etc, and toothbrush.

I've always figured if the luggage went MIA, I could buy toothpaste and deodorant and be good to go...

Fortunately for me it has always arrived well within the promised window.

That said, traveling at peak periods or during specials like free dining or events like the Food & Wine Festival can mean that even the smallest hitch can back things up in a very nasty way across all resorts.

As with everything in life, if you're at all worried about it, just claim your bags and carry them to the bus. And then that is one less thing you have to worry about.

:)

OP-you mentioned the light crowds while you were there. What were you dates of travel? We plan on going next year around the same time and would love to anticipate some manageable crowds. It is going to be hard waiting a whole year, but I guess having a new baby in a month will keep me busy.

We were there Sept 26-Oct 3. I have read people complaining that the crowds were heavy but we didn't notice this for some reason? We did head back to the hotel every day after lunch, went for a swim & then my son napped from 4-6 pm, then we had dinner & went back out. Even on EMH at MK we walked on Space Ranger Spin, & Pirates over & over, among other rides, we honestly didn't notice the crowds being that bad. There were people all over hte place but lines for rides we didn't find bad at all.

Next year we're booked Sept 18-Sept 26th.

I was there Sept 22-29..some days I found the crowds pretty light and others really busy:confused3
I found EMH at the MK really crowded..

No rhyme or reason...Epcot was busier around World Showcase w/Food & Wine which I expected..we also made it back each day to BLT for a cooling off period as well.

Next year I will go in October and hope for some cooler weather..

During our first trip to WDW we didn't get our bags until late, I would say towards the end of the 3-5 hr range. Again during our second trip, they arrived hours later when we were sleeping! Kind of scary when we woke up around 11:30 and the bags were in our room, almost like little elves dropped them off! (we are bad travelers and for some reason zonk out the first night of our flight)

Our last trip, we picked up the bags before heading over to the bus. I think I would do this again, but it's only hubby and me so we typically have one bag and carryon each.

Maybe your next trip will be better! :wizard:

Maybe it's because we didn't watch the 8 pm fireworks. There was way too many people around the castle area so we ventured our way over to Tomorrowland & rode SRS a few times. We saw the tale end of the fireworks but my son wasn't interested so we headed over to the speedway & then onto Adventureland & walked on POTC 3x in a row which had no line. We also did the people mover & the space orbiter without much of a line among others little things, but I can't remember everything now.

We didn't do the world showcase. Too much boredom for my active 3 year old. We saw Mexico, Norway, Canada & UK but didn't really do much other than take pics. We did ride the ride at Norway for my son.

You must have left just before the humidity disappeared :( By Tues it was gone & like 85 degrees, great for walking around in. The sun was scorching but the air was dry!

Is it just me or is that not a little creepy.

We left Tuesday afternoon...Monday was lovely.... I actually had to put a sweater on at Epcot that evening. Tuesday it felt hot again to me..and the humidity beginning to creep back. They did forecast a slightly cooler week tho..which I would have loved! Oh well...just have to keep going back till I get it right!!;)

We are going to use ME tommorrow and have our luggage delivered. We have never had any problems in the past....knock on wood* so hopefully we will have nothing to report when we come back.:goodvibes

We're going to be using ME for the first time in December...but I don't mind going to get our bags especially since we're not doing a park the first day. However, I always thought that they frowned upon this...and would prefer that we didn't pick up our own bags.

If we want to do it, does one of us check in with the ME people while the others go get our bags? Or...we all check in with the ME people and then get our bags and then go to the bus... or ...???

Or do we just let ME do everything.

If you do not want ME to deliver your bags, do not use the tags.
Pick up your bags go to to the ME desk to find what bus you need to be on for your resort.
Get in the right line for your bus, and all is fine.

We didn't ahve to go to the counter, as long as you had your booklet they just pointed us to our line.

Lots of airlines don't offer the ME luggage service so lots of people have their bags with them.

Arriving you can use ME doesn't matter the airline (as long as you pass customs before entering the US) the only time the airline matters is for ticketing on the return.

Yes I know, but a lot of people fly from this board on Canadian carriers that make you clear customs at MCO so they all have their bags with them when they board the ME. I was just trying to state that ME doesn't care whether you have your bags with you or not :)

Im sorry this has happened to you. What a sad way to start such a magical vacation.

I have used the ME tags many times. Each time we've had 4+ bags that had the ME tags on the. I have never had an issue with the delivery taking that long. However, I usually try to take the early morning flight (departing Buffalo around 7 am and arriving in Orlando around 9:30 - 10:00 am). Maybe this makes a difference because when I check in at the hotel I usually go to the pool for a few hours then come back to the room to change to run the rest of my earns (like grocery shopping ect ect) and the bags are almost always there. I guess your timing makes a difference on the length of time your bags take?

I have also used the Magical Express without the luggage tags (carrying my own bags) because I booked the trip to late and didn't have enough time for the tags to make it to me. This is also a nice suggestion if you or anyone else is concerned about their bags. Its nice to enjoy the complementary service the the ME offers and its a nicer drive with the entertainment so maybe thats the best option for those of you concerned about the possible wait time.
