hi all
we just got back wed. from a week at wdw ill do disabilitys based report about the special needs concerns we had
all in all it was great!

ds 7 cp uses wc in parks
ds 4 months old uses stroller and baby born lol
we left last wed. 4/26 flew jet blue from newark nj all was great except we were selectes for security why they select a 7yo in a wc and a 4mth old for extra security is crazy. only thing i can figure is baby had no ticket
they exempted the kids from extra searches but we got the bomb sniff to us and all are stuff in the bags only took 10 min then off to plane.
baby slept 7yo watched tv thank you jet blue for tv and game show network
gate checked wheelchair and stroller no problem plus they changed out seats to row 1 abc thanks nice lady at jet blue counter
magical express was great they personaly walked us from counter to bus to make shure we got the chair on
got to port orleans french qtr. check in was a problem!
1st they told us our resie was cancled then they found it 5 min later longest 5 min of my life
then they told us we had a handicaped room 1 king bed and could have a rollaway bed and a crib far away from bus. i requested 2 doubbles and a crib close to the bus stop bldg 4
i tell em no thats not acceptable blah blah blah she gets me a manager who makes us wait a few min i tell her i dont realy need the roll in shower just get us 2 doubbles close to bus
she does but says since its grad weekend we will be sorounded by teenagers i say i dont care ill take it
it was perfect nice room close to bus quiet no teenagers anywere
so off to epcot ill post later on what we did at parks needless to say cm were great they all engaged my son he asked them all there names they all talked to him gave him stickers and pins!
they accomodated us greatly with the gac card at all rides and most character greetings a few said that unless we were maw or autistic we had to wait to greet characters since my son has autistic tendancys and melts down the same way we told them this and they all let us meet as soon as they were able it was awsome we met another family with kid with cp from england at AK and enchanged experiances also there was a cm with cp wearing leg brace afo's who was with a character who talked to my son about doing his therapy so he could grow up to work at disney like him!!! very nice!!
we went to sea world one day they let my son and wife in 1/2 price since he was handicaped thanks ! and gave us a card to be accomidated at shows we didnt even neeed it we got right it wasnt that crowded they have nice hadicaped with compaion bathrooms at sw!
only problem was we booked with mears for a handicaped van with lift to take us from por to sw it never came 20 min after pickup i called was told wait 15 its bizzy never came i called they were nasty i told them just send a passanger van we will put the chair in the back they sent a taxi van
i argued with the driver why i have to pay 75 round trip for a taxi that probably costs 20 but my wife stops me and we go to sw
the slip says to call 2hours before were ready to leave in 2 hours so i call
they tell me they cant pick us up for 3 hours since they dont have the hc van avaible i get mad argue again tell them just send the taxi van again in 2 hours! we go to leave there is a handicaped van waiting we go over my mother in law starts to load my son at the van and we realize that theres another family with a handicaped son in a wc waiting
there father comes over there from the uk he had booked the van also i dont know if they doubble booked us or gave our taxi van to someone else but mears sucks!!
the drivers are all confused i take over send my mother in law and father in law off on another mears van to there hotel and take my son out of his chair to sit in the van seat with the rest of my family and make room for the other family and there son who cant come out of his chair sothey squeeze in and we all have a nice ride to our hotels he picked up the tip nice of him thanks and we all made friends! be carefull of mears vans take a taxi!
the wdw busses were great! all the drivers except one were verry nice all loaded my sons right away you pull to the front to let them see ur there
1 bus was full with 2 chairs so we waited for a 2nd no big deal 1 had a broken lift so i just picked him up and put him on no big deal
1st nite we waited in line for bus at epcot when we got to our turn we were told we had to wait for next bus since they load wc and scooters 1st and from now on we should not wait in line just come to front so bus driver can see you
wich we did at all other parks and worked great except for 2nd nite at epcot when we went to front of line off to the side the driver who was there loading a bus told us to get to back of line when i explained what i was told he said no we we got on line wich was huge i went to find a manger who when i explained told us the driver was wrong and to come to the front wich we did and loaded the next bus so beware the drivers who dont know the rules all in all no real complaints busses were 95% awsome just watch out at epcot
no problem with any resteaunts all were great with the wc and stroller
awsome food on the dining plan
trip home was just as good just make shure ur packed early on the last day even though we left at 7 pm the bags have to be checked at ME by 1pm
ill post again about the parks with pics tomorow
