We arrived last night (Monday) around 7. Had dinner at Shutter's - it was just o.k. - we should have eaten up in the Green Cabin Room as the view is excellent. We had heard last week that the jellyfish were really bad. Luckily, there were no jellyfish to be seen today. About 40 miles south of here, there was severe weather and threats of tornadoes. That did not affect our weather here, but did affect the surf (yea for the kids!), including white caps out in the ocean. But, it started raining around 7 PM and it was a downpour!

So, all in all, it's great. The grounds are beautiful and the beach is great. However, the villa we are in is not the best. It seems "tired" and not all that clean. And, the couch is hands down the most uncomfortable couch we have ever sat on. Having said all that, our family of six is having a blast and can't wait to explore some more tomorrow!:lovestruc

Have a great time, and enjoy being there. Be careful in the ocean with the surf up - it can turn on your in a hurry.

We have only been to Vero Beach once and really enjoyed the resort. It's a bit remote in terms of finding restaurants, but it's beautiful there. If you get a chance to do a tour of the place, do so - it's really interesting.

Have fun and I'll cross my fingers for good weather during your trip. We loved our stay and hope you will too.

We were there in February and saw many small jellyfish in the morning one day, and not the next. I am really wondering what the rhyme and reasoning of jellyfish on the beach or not is. And if they're on the beach that day, does that mean they are in the water? Can you get bitten by one if you are wading?

The jelly fish generally stay out in the gulf stream, but strong SE winds will push them to the shore. They don't bite, but they do sting. Doesn't matter what you are doing. They don't come after you or anything it's just a matter of you and it being in the same place at the same time.

I don't like them :sad2:

Can you post some pics? I`ve never been there, but want to go. Maybe a 3 day mom and daughter get away. Would it be a good place to go after DDs graduation for a couple of days? :cool2:

a quick fix for a jellyfish sting... apply a wet sand compress. My son got stung several years ago at the jersey shore and this is what the lifeguards do to treat it. Yes it works!:goodvibes

Looking forward to more! We will be there soon so I like to hear all about VERO!!

I was there last week and was very surprised about all the jellyfish -- I've been to Vero quite a few times and never saw anything like it. News reports said the same as the poster above -- it's the winds that drive them into the shore.

I also saw that the public beach next door is closed for construction so there are no lifeguards in the area. There were warning all up and down the East Coast of Florida for rip tides so please be cautious in the surf.

Second day here and we are loving it. The wind at the beach was very strong though - almost uncomfortably so - but the pool was perfect. No jellyfish still, which is great!

We did the origami activity - my DD7 thought that was outstanding! We also did the "chalk art" which was simple and fun - a little something different than just surf and sand! Of course we had to do the campfire tonight too - Zach, who ran it, was outstanding. There was a big crowd there and he had us all singing and dancing - very fun! My girls ate their s'mores and were very happy!

Tomorrow we plan on playing the golf course and staying mainly by the pool due to our baby girl NOT liking the sand - at all.

Room for improvement: the couch!!! It's truly awful and seems to get worse every day. 2. Kitchen utensils could be a little better (no pizza cutter!). 3. Need a TV guide in the room - just a listing of the channels would be really helpful - there are both analog and digital channels, and we can't figure out what channel we want to watch. :cloud9:

Please don't think I'm an idiot, but I really don't know how to post pictures, but even if I did, I ran out of room on my memory card, and didn't bring my camera cord to put them on my computer so I could clear up space. So...I'm using my daughter's camera, but no cord for that either! Sorry!;)

As for a getaway, I think it would be PERFECT!!! It's very removed from the hustle and bustle of life in general, and would be a wonderful way to reconnect with loved ones. However, if you're looking for nightlife, I wouldn't know where to go - we're home bodies.
