and I will never eat that junk again!! How else can I describe the movie other than "Wow!" It was truly eye-opening and I think it will have an serious effect on most viewers. I highly recommend catching it if its playing near you.

I can't wait to see this! I actually think that this guy is hot too. The main character. I'm glad that he got on a healthy diet afterward and improved his health!

I always knew that this type of food was toxic! I'm definitely sticking to my health food!:sunny:

There is a great article about this in Men's Health this month. He shows the diet he went on AFTER. It's scary all that happened to him in one months time.

I've heard alot about that movie. I hope it gets released on DVD fairly quickly. :)

Not only was the effect of one month scary, just seeing the effect of 1 week was startling. He gained 10 pounds and ALL of his bloodwork went completely crazy. His cholesterol went through the roof in just 7 days. It was mind-blowing.

I won't get out to see this movie, so give me some spoilers! What did he do? Eat fast food for a month??? What happened to him?

I stopped eating McDonald's last year after I started my diet. I had it again recently it was so fatty and salty. It's something that I definitely don't miss.

He eats nothing but McDonald's for an entire month

This is the documentary that caused a sensation at Sundance 2004 and allegedly inspired McDonald's to discontinue its "super size" promotions as a preemptive measure. In it, Spurlock vows to eat three meals a day at McDonald's for one month. He is examined by three doctors at the beginning of the month and found to be in good health. They check him again regularly during the filming, as his weight balloons 30 pounds, his blood pressure skyrockets, his cholesterol goes up 65 points, he has symptoms of toxic shock to his liver, his skin begins to look unhealthy, his energy drops, he has chest pains, and his girlfriend complains about their sex life. At one point his doctors advise him to abandon McDonald's before he does permanent damage. The doctors say they have seen similar side-effects from binge drinkers, but never dreamed you could get that way just by eating fast food.

Wow - we eat Mickey D's about once a week......eek. I guess once a week isn't as bad....but starting to wonder now..... I can't imagine living without a weekly 1/4 lber with cheese and fries!

If i ate McDonald's every single meal for 1 month, my health would go haywire too. I don't need a movie to tell me that. I coulda told him that b4 he made the movie.
I won't be spending my money on it. That's for sure.

ITA! It really makes you wonder what people are thinking that this is a surprise.

For me, the point is why eat this stuff at all. Many people DO eat as fast food joints more than once a week. For me, even once a month is too much. IOt's gross and not worth it.

And vague notions like "It will make you fat" or "it's not good for you" are not nearly as powerful as actually seeing and learning the effects on your body after one week. This guy's body was basically preparing itself to die.

I know, I keep wondering if anyone out there really eats this stuff three times a day?

Anyone who does, please chime in.

My DS's Speech Therapist eats MacDonalds every single day for lunch. She's petite, blond & in great shape for a woman about 50 years old. I'm so envious!! She said she'd die if she couldn't have her MacDonald's "fix" at least once a day!

I have to admit, I love their french fries & their breakfast sandwiches but hardly ever have any of it. :(

I saw this yesterday as well and I think he was trying to make a broader point about society consuming so much fast food without really thinking about the consequences. He acknowledges in the movie that his is an extreme example. The movie also touches on the food school systems serve which was quite an eye opener for me. I thought the movie was great and while I admit it won't keep me from ever eating at McDonald's again it does make you think twice. ::yes::

This guy ate three meals a day at McDonalds and supersized his meals whenever he was asked if he wanted them supersized (and McDonalds clerks are probably instructed to ask if you want them supersized).

I sure wouldn't eat three meals a day there but the occasional cheeseburger and fries isn't going to hurt anybody.

As KayeandJim00 pointed out, the message was a bit broader than just "don't eat McDonald's for every meal. It was more about what Americans really ARE eating and what they perceive as healthy. The school lunch segment really surprised me as well. I've been out of high school for about 15 years now, but we never had soda, fast food, ice cream and candy as lunchroom choices, as kids do now. They also showed an alternative school for troubled youths that did not serve these foods. Rather, they served "home-cooked" types of foods (for a cheaper cost than the public school programs) and noticed that it affected study habits and moods in the students. The public school segment showed students ordering bags of chips and/or french fries for lunch. After following the students back to their tables, they learned that this was their entire meal. They were not ordering anything other than junk and drinking soda. They also did "man in the street" interviews with folks in LA, New York, and Texas. Some of these people at fast food EVERY day. It was really fascinating and definitely educational.

I think I read somewhere that he decided to make the movie after two girls sued McDonald's claiming their food made them fat. They lost their suit and McDonald's claimed that there was nothing wrong with their food. The filmmaker decided to take up McDonald's up on their claim ... It seems like a pretty harsh way to prove that McDonald's was wrong. I don't know if it would be worth it to put your health at risk to prove a point.

I don't know anyone who eats McDonald's three times a day but I had a friend that ate nothing but Toblerone for the first week of college his first year. It was the first time he lived away from home and I guess he didn't know how to cook  He lasted about a week and then got really sick. I have no idea what he was thinking.

I love Toblerone!! I think I could last quite awhile on that stuff!! :p

People have crazy eating habits! How could someone just eat toblerone for a week?

Also eating 5,ooo cals. a day? Was he able to move at the end of the day? it's also bad for someones psyche to eat like that! I wonder if he got depressed?:(
