Well what a coincidence....

My family pulls into Ft. Wilderness the morning of January 2nd for the week... the same day that my Nebraska Cornhuskers will be playing South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl, also in Orlando. Coincidence, or divine intervention? Now if I can just get my wife to let me go to that bowl game.

Is there anyway you could show up at the Fort a day earlier than you plan? That way you could get set up, get your groceries, and everyone would be in vacation mode. Then the next day you could slip over to the game, pick up a cheap ticket outside the stadium, and cheer on your Huskers? I mean, that's would I would try to do if I could persuade DW somehow.

Two years ago when we were at the Fort for Thanksgiving my team (Alabama) played at Disney's Wide World of Sports in a basketball tournament. We went to the Milk House Arena and cheered the Tide to a victory over Baylor that night.

So if you get the chance to combine two of your favorite things (camping at the Fort and cheering on your school) on vacation I say you HAVE to go for it.

I have been trying to get in a day earlier -- just have not been any spots open at the Ft. She is a fan and has mentioned that I can try to go and take my son. Realistically, probably not going to happen. It's OK though - still fun to dream a bit. Heck, the tickets to the bowl game are a lot cheaper than trying to get into Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.

I've got the same problem. Arriving Dec. 27th, The Irish are in the Champs Bowl is on the 29th. Also the Gator bowl in Jacksonville on the 2nd. My DS is a huge Gator fan. When the teams were announced, DW just said "don't even think about it". I'd be so broke if I lived in Florida............

All I can say is "keep trying to get that extra day". We hear lots of stories on the DIS about not getting desired dates but we advise people to try calling EVERY day and you'd be surprised at the number of people who end up getting what they were looking for.

Winter seems to have found us in the past couple weeks. I am a bit nervous about the drive down to Florida - at least the first day or two. Hoping for decent weather.

Well here's hoping for a clear sky, dry roads, and a safe trip down. We are going the end of Feb, could be better or worse. I have a couple of different routes planned just in case and can leave earlier if I need to. Have a great trip and GO HUSKERS!!!!
