This morning, DH and I both decided to try and take a quick trip to WDW as a Christmas gift to each other. I called Member Services as he checked plane fares/times. He found a good flight, I found nothing. Yeah, I know, it was for any studio from December 26-29 just a few short weeks before the check in date. Just thought I might get lucky. I could get 1 night at AK but that is it. Guess it wasn't meant to be?

I know it's not the same, but maybe pay cash for a few nights at a value hotel and keep trying to piece together a few days through DVC?

DW and our family did this for this past spring break. We decided the Saturday before Easter to make a trip down, knowing that we had no DVC points or chance whatsoever at getting into AKL. We paid for 4 nights at Pop and had a blast. We did have to drive down, but it was a great drive and time and it, to be honest, was one of our best visits.

There was a 1 bedroom but not for the entire stay and that was in AK. I may call back because he told me a studio in AK was open for 12/26. I wonder if he went through the entire list or just AK since it was first in ABC order? DH and I dont even care what we resort we are in. Of course we have our favorites, but at this time of the year we would take anything. It may be worth another call?

If it works it would be great, if not we will go another time.

Studios have been pretty booked up for a while. I tried a couple of months ago to get my parents a studio anywhere for the 19th and 20th. The 19th wasn't available anywhere. I didn't bother to waitlist, they just booked on cash somewhere else (I'm not even sure where!). My sister was looking at the Dolphin or Swan for those same two nights last week and again the 19th was not available. I think things are getting pretty full for the holidays.

I'm pretty sure that they can see the entire inventory, so I don't think he went down a list.

I booked 12/31 and 1/1 only a few weeks ago. One night at OKW in a one bedroom and one night at SSR in a one bedroom. Keep calling, you may get lucky like I did.

Try the Disney Collection Hotels. I was able to get a room at CSR about 2 weeks ago between XMAS & New Years. I think if you are in the last 4 months of your use year than you can't book under the Disney Collection.

That stinks! Happened to us a couple months ago too with a really awesome deal on airfare...cheaper than we've ever paid. In September, I tried getting a studio reservation for end of October/early November about 6 weeks before check-in, but no luck everything was booked and the earliest we would be able to get a week was the week of Nov. 14. I opted not since I wanted to attend the MNSSHP, and we had went last year after Thanksgiving for all the Christmas festivities. Now I was hoping to go end of Feb/early Mar, but I don't think it will work out for DH's work. I've got points to be used by end of May. Ugh!
