After over a year of studying the DVC and trying to decide whether to join, it was all rather anticlimatic. Last Tuesday morning we met with a guide while down at WDW and after making sure all the figures were what we thought they were, we joined. We had our choice of four home resorts - VWL, BCV, BWV or Vero. We chose Villas at the Wilderness Lodge and got an April use year. We chose this resort because we were staying at the Wilderness Lodge and absolutely love the resort. It is so quite and peacefull, you'd never know you are right in the midst of WDW. I was amazed at how simple everything was. They approved us on the spot and gave us our backpack full of all kinds of paperwork and goodies. We completed everything there in about an hour and then headed on over to Animal Kingdom for the rest of the day; still not believing we had actually done it. As far as the details go - we got 150 points at $84/point minus the $10/point MB. Plus they gave us $100 in Disney gift certificates to use as we wish. We spent them on souvenirs at Downtown Disney.
I want to thank everyone for all the help they have given over the past year and in helping us make our decision. We are already planning on our first year with points (next year) - we're thinking a few days at HHI in April plus 5 nights at VWL during Christmas. Oh one neat thing - we stopped by HHI on the way home this afternoon to just look the resort over and when we pressed the button at the gate the person who let us in said "Welcome Home" - it was so neat.
