I am thrilled beyond belief. :yay: I have always wanted to go there due to my French Acadian background and some family history down there! It won't be for a while; October 2009. If you have been there I would love some feedback.

We have been there 3 times. But it was a while back (93, 94 and 96). Twice for Mardi Gras and the other time was in October. It is very hot at that time of year.

We loved it. There is so much to see. There are a lot of great restaurants. We also did a Mississippi River Boat Cruise, a Bayou Tour and a Plantation Tour. We spent a lot of time in the French Quarter. You have to be careful. Some areas are safer than others. I don't know what is it like since Katrina.

I am sure you will have a great time. I would love to go back someday (when the kids are older).

Laissez les bon temps rouler!

I went for a few days March of last year! We had a great time!

We stayed at a hotel on the corner of Bourbon Street, did the Honey Island Swamp Tour, a city tour (which really was a pity party after Katrina for the most part, they're really exploiting those poor people in FEMA trailers, making sad photo ops out of them), an afternoon at Mardi Gras World (after riding the Canal Street ferry to Algiers) and a ghost walk - very cool.

Had a to die for breakfast at Brennans... Had cheeseburgers in paradise at Margaritaville.

The French Quarter and Garden District we found fairly safe to walk, even in the evening. Granted, we are 2 adults and don't have to worry about children.

Would for sure go back. HAVE FUN!
