My WW weigh in isn't until tomorrow night but this morning I thought I'd step on my home scales to see how things are going. I've been exercising religiously and drinking that awful water till I about choke! Guess what? It appears I've gained 3 lbs from what I weighed on these same scales last week!!!

I've stayed on the program totally! I have no intention of quitting because I know if I keep this up the weight has to come off but I'm bummed to say the least.

(And it can't be that time of the month thing because I've had a hysterectomy so there is no time of the month!)

I know it's frustrating. I've been going back and forth lately on the scales, and it's driving me crazy! I keep telling myself it's from my . & being sick. I just want this weight to GO AWAY!!!

Hang in there! We can do it, we can do it, we can do it... ;)

Hey Liz!
Hang in there! I often gain when I start a new routine. I just tell myself muscle weighs more than fat, and keep going. I also have seen my scales go off by as much a 4 lbs. I have an affectionate nick name for our scale: Bi-Polar Betty:rolleyes: (No offense to anyone who may suffer from this awful disorder.) I don't take it too seriously. That is why I only look for long term trends with my home scale. The scale at WW may tell an entirely different story. I'll send PD, hoping that is the case. If not, as long as you're keeping the faith, (WW faith, that is) you'll see success soon! Smiles for the rest of the day, OK?

Try not to let it get you down. You are doing something good for you and what to scales know anyway? ;)

Never, never quit.

Yeah, what they said!

I feel your pain! It's frustrating to stick to the program, exercise, drink the water and then see the numbers go the wrong way! :)
D'oh! I remember watching the Discovery Health Challenge and I think one woman in the challenge gained weight intially, although she lost inches and her bodyfat % dropped.

Hang in there! I am almost in the same boat with you and I am ready to shoot my scale, but I know that if I keep this up for three months I will have a whole new body (and then I'll keep it up for life after that to maintain my new look!)

Sending hugs and pixie dust your way! :)

It's such a bummer when the scale doesn't cooperate! I feel your pain! Don't give up though--eventually the scale will realize how you have stuck with your plan and will cooperate.

I was where you are last week. Do not give up...keep going. Our bodies react differently sometimes, and I think you just need to wait it out. This week, I am adding more exercise and I am measuring, to keep track of inches lost.

Good luck and don't let this discourage you.
You can do it!!!

I gained 7 pounds after I got back from my trip and I never deviated from my eating plan. I happen to know for sure it was fluid retention because I couldn't get my rings off.

Most of the fluid is gone now. I know it wasn't my TOM either because I am well into menopause. The thing is that you can retain fluid whether or not it is your TOM. It's mostly a female thing. Something I have suffered since I was about 13. My doctor calls it ideopathic edema. That just means I retain fluid and they can't figure out why, but it is very common.

Good luck on your weigh in tomorrow. I weigh on Thursdays too. I haven't seen a loss since February 3rd and I'm really hoping to break that barrier this week.

On the plus side, I have been losing inches even though I wasn't losing pounds. That helps a little. Measure yourself, you could be losing inches instead of pounds too.

Good luck, Liz.

Is your scale a digital one? Do you keep it in the bathroom? Condensation and moisture can get into it, and make it completely inaccurate.

And even if it isn't, how much did you pay for your bathroom scale? Did you know that the Weight Watchers scales retail for $1000? (See here: http://egeneralmedical.com/tanbwb627ahi.html )

Unless you spent that much on a scale, it's not going to give you the same kind of accuracy that the professional scales will give.

Throw out your bathroom scale!!!! :) That's why you go to weigh in every week. Just try your hardest. Take it one meal at a time, and if you've tried your best, then you know you have, and it doesn't matter what the scale reads because in good time, the numbers will start to fall.

You can do it!!!!

Dan, my scale is digital and we do keep it in the bathroom. I know it is a little wacky because my first weigh in at WW I weighed 2 lbs. less than the home scale showed. The next week I weighed exactly the same as the home scale showed. (I weigh at home immediately before going to WW in the same clothes, etc. so I can see the difference.)

My clothes still feel looser so I don't feel like I've gained weight. Crossing my fingers that tomorrow's weigh in will go well. Thanks for the encouragement! You guys are the greatest!!!!!

Hi Liz!

My Weight Watchers leader was just discussing this very thing yesterday! She said sometimes it happens that you stay perfectly on program, yet the scale doesn't show it.

My sister is on a diet too. Not WW, she has some medical issues so she's under her doctor's supervision. She's lost 9 pounds in 3 weeks and is doing great! BUT! Her doctor told her to look at weight loss in one-month increments because sometimes the weight loss doesn't show up on the scale right away. I thought this was very good advice.

I bet your loss will show up soon, let us know, and don't feel discouraged! I only lost 5.1 pounds in the first 2 weeks of WW, and I would've sworn I had lost a lot more than that because my jeans got VERY roomy! Sometimes we have to take everything into consideration, not just what the scales show :)
