I can't believe I can't get into HH for March 28th! I called MS today (my 7th month mark) for a two bedroom for four nights starting on the 28th. I would have to borrow the points to do this trip, and we really want to do it, since we'd be joined by our good friends, who live in VA and we don't get to see too often.
I was told there is 0 availability on the 30th for any accommodation size in HH! I don't want to and won't borrow the points for the first two nights and the fourth night, and waitlist for the third night, because if the waitlist doesn't come through I'm in a bad position with the borrowed points! I'm so upset! I waited and waited for today to come around so I could do this and I really can understand why only one night in the middle of the trip (a Tuesday night, at that) isn't available. What a total bummer

I'm going to call every day see if I can get something but I'm not holding out any hope that this is going happen

I have never done this, but if you waitlist, technically, you are not using the points, right? So, why would any borrowed points be taken from the next year if you are waitlisted? Wouldn't they move when your waitlist came through?

I think the OP was saying she would be borrowing for the entire trip, so she was afraid to go ahead and book the 1st, 2nd and 4th night because she would then be in borrowing status. If the 3rd night never came through, she would be in a bind.

Can't you waitlist the trip as a whole and not borrow the points unless the whole trip comes through?

Thanks! I didn't think of waitlisting the whole trip, I guess it just didn't occur to me in my disappointment. I will call and do that tomorrow before I head off to the DVC Event on LI! (at least I'll get my Disney fix!)

This is the Tuesday of Easter week, and you may not find the waitlist successful because of that. Chances are it is already a large list...

Maybe 3rd night is available for cash ? and then you could waitlist it to see if it becomes available for points.....probably a long shot on cash but ya never know !

As the years pass HHI seems to be getting more & more difficult to get; keep telling DH we need to add on points there so we don't need to wait until 7 mos window

We did the week after Easter without a problem two years ago but that was the call day-by-day booking of days gone by. Guess we'll have to waitlist and hope it comes through.

You may want to try for Vero Beach as well, though that can be equally busy the weeks surrounding Easter. How about a WDW trip without parks? Many report enjoying that..you could drive down, we have done this from Chicago and not too bad of a drive I might say..

I was going to put the 30th on cash and book the other three nights on points, but I can't book the 31st til the 31st because the cash ressie "unlinks" the reservation so it's treated completely separate and since I don't own there I can only book the 31st at 7 months out. I'm not risking that the 30th and 31st won't be available(I'm willing to pay cash if a waitlist doesn't come through on one night, but not on two), so I don't want to tie up borrowed points for just the two nights.. I'll call back Monday and see if I can get the three nights on points, the 30th on cash with a waitlist. I'm really needing some pixie dust on this one!

That is so strange that they're telling you no availability. I booked a dedicated 2br for 4nts 3/29-4/2. The MS rep didn't even hesitate, I gave him my dates and req'd a 2br and he responded right away he could book that. I was holding my breath and was surprised when he told me we were good to go. I checked and my ressie is showing online. Here's some PD that you'll have better luck on Monday.....

You might want to give them another call tomorrow. I called right at 9a (got right through with no wait).

WOOO HOOO WAITLIST CAME THROUGH!!!
I called again yesterday late morning. I decided the heck with it, I was going to put the 30th and 31st on cash ressie with a waitlist and book the 28th and 29th on points (which I had to borrow). I couldn't book the 31st on points because of making the 30th a cash ressie, "unlinked" the points nights and I'd had to wait til today to book the 31st. I was so afraid that would become unavailable too, so I just thought, let me book the last two nights on the cash ressie and waitlist them.

While I was on the phone with MS, the waitlist came through!!!! For all four nights!

So excited! Now we plan to drive to our friends in VA on the 27th. Spend the afternoon and evening at their house, then all four of us drive to HH for the four nights, and then back to VA for another day/night stay and DH and I drive home! Yeah! I'm siked
