Was getting stuff ready for the trip to the fort tomorrow and my phone rings. It's DGMA. Well she is freaking out im like o jeeze what's wrong with her or the trailer (I keep it at her house). The hose on her washing machine broke and so far I have soaked up about 25 gallons with towels, and 30-40 gallons with my shop vac. I really need this vacation now. Off to home depot for a new hose and some damp rid.

Oh wow! I hope that you get everything cleaned up and that your trip is fun and uneventful.

Isn't that the way it always goes the day before a trip? A kid sprains an ankle, your spouse gets a cold, a water main breaks, or you have to have sun damage freeze-burned off your upper lip so you walk around vacation looking like you have the world's biggest slug riding on your mouth. (um...did I just share too much?)

Hope everything got cleaned up pronto and you're now having a great trip!

Had to share my day before leaving for the Fort experience. Day before Labor Day, loading the trailer and washing clothes. Before I start the washer I hear water running, hmmmm, where could that be coming from? Go outside and the backflow preventer on the outside faucet on the house has blown off, water is shooting over the top of the house!
Shut the water off, and attempt to unscrew the faucet from the outside to go get a replacement. It's corroded and I end up twisting the copper line in two. Now I can't turn the water back on! Had to go to Home Depot and buy plumbing stuff, torch, solder, flux etc. As a temporary fix, cut the line off and soldered a cap on the end of the line. Had to cut a whole in the drywall to get to the problem.
Now that I'm back, get to tackle putting the new faucet on. In addition to unloading tons of stuff, yay!!!

I HATE when stuff like this happens!! We had a septic tank back-up the night before we were leaving for vacation one time. We paid the extra $$$ for the emergency call so we could leave knowing we would be coming home to a "pooh-free" zone!!
