You guys on the DIS Boards have been plugging it so well over the past few months, that I've finally been tempted and gone and done it - I've applied for the Nationwide credit card! (you know, the one that doesn't charge you commission for buying things abroad).

To be honest though, what sealed the deal for me was the letter I got from Barclaycard yesterday saying that they weren't doing Nectar points anymore - that was pretty much the only reason I was still staying with them!

Now I've just got to decide what I should spend my extra 2.75% on...

Steve, one thing I would let you know about with the Nationwide Card is that they dont give you the option as it what card you want (Standard / Gold / Platinum) it just turns up. Personally, I dont like having a purse full of the gold / platinum cards -a bit too easy for thieves to spot and potential villains know these cards have much bigger credit limits. If you want the "standard" card you have to let them know, otherwise you will get one based on a credit check. If you have good credit they will automatically send you a gold or platinum one.

Just thought I would pass this on in case its an issue for you as most other companies let you choose which one you want out the cards you are eligible for.

My old card was a gold one and I didn't ask for that either - had been with Barclaycard a few years then just got a letter from them saying, "you've been upgraded to a new card, here it is, destroy the old one"!

However, I'm tempted to wait and see what one I get - I wonder what my credit rating is like? As I don't put that much on it, except when I'm abroad (prefer to use Switch/Maestro at home) and typically clear what little balance I have in full every month, I doubt CC companies think I'm a particularly good customer - they rarely get to charge me any interest!
