Well I might as well start my own countdown thread, seeing as though I keep hijacking others!
Its like a train of thought journal - so may or may not make much sense.

So we are at 6days to go - yes we added additional post-its so we can keep count.

We have a very busy six days ahead of us, although I have been planning this trip for 15months suddenly I feel like there is not enough time!

DH has taken the boys this morning for a hair cut.
DD is working until 4 and I am in my pyjamas at 10:00am on Disboards

DH has gone to the RTA to try and get registration papers for his car that is due for renewal on 1st October but we havent seen the papers yet, (yeah, I really want to spend that $1000 just now)

I am still waiting on a bank statement so that I can do my tax return - I rang last week and was told they were being sent on Friday - hopefully that turns up on Monday.

DD tells me that she needs to buy new shoes (converse) TOMORROW!!! No, she cant wait until we get there, *** the ones I have have holes, and I have nothing to wear :headache: even though I have asked her several times if she is good for shoes :headache:
me: "What about the ones you wear for netball" -
her: "I dont want to look like a dork with shorts and trainers on" -
did I say she was a cliche!! :headache:

DD will have yearly exams for Maths, English, Science and Geography - and a major drama performance - she will have PDHPE, Religion and 2 elective subjects as soon as she is back!!

Pretty sure that we will have an electricity bill turn up while we are away, might call them on Monday, dont want to come home to no power:eek:

The boys have an ebay auction of nerf guns finishing tomorrow - they will need to be picked up -

Still havent got our travellers cheques, I ordered them for today, but forgot to get cash out of bank, and there is $1000 daily limit on atm - could put it on Credit but would be considered a cash advance, will now have to find time this week for DH to be there to sign them -

I will have to send off my amazon order soon.

My suitcase is half packed - everyone else has one on the floor of their room, not sure what is in them, probably nothing!

Oh, and we have a funeral to go to on Wednesday.

Hooray!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I was honestly thinking about changing the name of mine to the Busy Batty Busy Batty Countdo-own thread!!!! I was worried that you would be too busy this week to do one!!

Glad to see that you have your priorities in order!! :rotfl:

I am at work (dressed though!) on Disboards!!! ;)

We have a car rego due 1 week after we get home - ugh - I can feel the "101 Ways with Mince" cookbook might be making an appearance around here in late October!!! :lmao:

Gosh you have a busy week ahead. I think you are very brave getting everyone to do their own packing. I pack for the entire family.

I'm laughing at the shoes. Really, I feel your pain. In our house....

Friday: Me to DD: We're going to Parramatta tomorrow, how are your school shoes, sneakers, and dance shoes?
DD: They're fine, don't need anything.

Saturday, shopping day: Me: Are you sure about about shoes?
DD: Yes. Rolls eyes.

Monday: DD: Muuuuuuummmm. my school shoes feel tight.
Me: :headache:

DD has special fittings so I can't go to Target/Kmart or even Myer. Parramatta is about 30 minutes from home.

Caroline, I will end up packing for everyone - I live in hope that they can be a little independent. (especially DH)

Although DD will pack for herself - she says I stress too much about packing when we go anywhere - she does her own and usually manages OK.

you're more confident for your DH than I am for mine :lmao:

Oh Battymum, I am having a giggle reading about your DD! :rotfl: This is because I have just today broached the subject of what to pack with my DD13 today. I started out with ideas of what to wear on the plane and she replied "Oh Mum, how can I possibly know what I will want to wear that day?! I'll just decide when I wake up that morning!" Ah DD, that is NOT how it works! Similarly, when asking her whether she will be happy wearing her flat sandals (that she is taking on the trip) to dinner on the formal nights on the cruise, she again told me that she has no idea what she will feel like wearing that night. And I know I'm going to have the trainer/cool shoe battle with her too when we get to that stage. Ugh, this is not going to be an easy process with her :scared1:

Yes, but its always me that has to pick up the pieces when it goes wrong!!

I just said to my son "what have you got packed in your suitcase?"

Quick as a flash he says "hopes and dreams!"

So I got a little bit done today after seeing DH's car come back in the drive and realising that it was 11:00am and I was still in pyjamas :confused3 - Quick as a flash, jumped up, yes honey I have been so busy, I just didnt have time to get dressed!

But I cleaned both bathrooms - and went to Bunnings - put some Dynamic lifter on the garden and lawn food - so our garden will be all lush when we get back. I told DH if he felt like it tomorrow he could get some garden mulch on, ha ha, like he is going to "feel like it", but he will do it anyway!

My weird dog went absolutely nuts, he loves it when we put Dynamic lifter on the garden, rolls about in it. "mmmmm chook poo":rotfl:

:flower3:Glad you don't have to change your trip.
Hope everything goes well this week. Maybe dd could be bribed to wait if she looked on the internet at the Converse they have over there that we don't have here;)

Nice work Batty, and you must dis the way that I do when I should actually be doing something else - in a room with a window looking out into the driveway! ;)

:lmao::lmao::lmao: nice to know i am not the only one who clicks of the dis boards when hubby comes home :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I know how your daughter feels, jeans and runners (aka 'junners') is 'social suicide' (according to my sisters) . My sisters and I went crazy and were quite embarrassed by our mum wearing this combination when we were at DL earlier in the year, but then we realised everyone else was wearing similar combinations (or worse) and heck no one knew who we were half way across the world so why did it matter.

Enjoy your trip!

good to see everyone else is in full on panic mode.....

sent DH to get haircut today, did mention lawns but he seems to have wandered off into the "guy zone"......

did my grocery order to get delivered to BLT and bought our 30 day delta sky club membership today...so there's another $250 gone before we even get to the airport

did 5 loads of washing:laundy: sand shoes included, so dryer now is sounding like a cat is caught in it...bang, bang, bang

going into city tonight for my "farewell" dinner:grouphug: my friends are a tad crazy but relatively harmless.

so better go have a shower and think up new "to do" lists to drive myself crazy

thinking of you each at this stressful time...may the force be with us:wizard:

Miss PotatoHead I am with you on the jeans and runners thing! I'm a forty year old mum of three and I would never be seen with that combination on. I don't know what it is but it looks so wrong. P.S I apologise in advance. No offense any junner wearers, it's just not something I feel right in :rotfl2:

Oh god, you all know what I'm wearing as I write this, don't you?! :rolleyes1

Oh, the shame......... :sad1:

So is converse OK? :confused3 I can only last about an hour or so of walking in anything but a sport shoe - if my feet hurt I am not going to have a good time.
Oh well something else for me to worry about now! I will make sure any photos do not include my feet and noone will ever know!! :rotfl:

Real sneakers fashion no-no. Fashion ones like Converse are ok. Not all white. And no bum bag :rotfl: Sometimes DD8 wants tO wear her school New Balances with jeans. It's a no. I send her back in the room for Sketchers or Propets(which are Old lady shoes, but in bright pink look like they are for an 8 year old!!!

Yes converse, sketchers, vans etc fine, just no actual sports shoes/runners, hahaha, but seriously wear what you're going to be comfy in :)
