I remember my Mom picking up me and some of my friends from the movie theater years and years ago. I was horrified that she was picking us up....(teenager) and when we got into the car that MEATLOAF song was playing. She turned up the radio and announced we needed to stop giggling and talking she wanted to see if she could catch the score of the Red Sox Game....I almost DIED!!! I was horrified and embrassed beyond belief. She continued to say things like Gee I didnt even know they were playing etc. She finally figured it out. Poor Mom....Then we had to listen to the whole talk about how they put smut and filth on the radio...It was the longest ride in the world.

Phil Rizzuto was all over NYC televison when he recorded the bridge in that song...not only as the voice of the Yankees (and the Yankees were on their way to win yet another world series that year), but he was also doing commercials for "the Money Store", a consumer loan operation. so his voice was very recognizable around here.


the bg debate was whether Rizzuto knew what he was recording, or whether he thought he was doing some sort of baseball tribute.
