Well, I couldn't get an Illuminations Cruise!

I actually decided to try at the last minute for next Saturday night-Of course they are all booked. I hadn't really given it a thought, then decided it would be cool for my Mom's birthday. Oh well, I did book a sleigh ride? Has anyone ever had any luck with same day cancellations?

you could look into the possibility of sharing a cruise with others. I've read that sometimes boats stand idle, so it can't hurt to check into it while you're there.

I bet the sleigh ride will be cool.

dgaston is correct. Keep calling and trying for a cancellation even while you are in WDW. Cancellations happen everyday and sometimes one of the boats just sits idle during Illuminations because someone cancelled and no one else called and got the reservation.
