This is my first time posting on this board, but I thought I would tell my story. I have been reviewing this and other sites for months (lurking?) trying to decide when and where to stay for a fall trip for my wife and I. She (54) and I (56) have been married for only eight years (Today's our anniversary by the way!), having gotten together again after having been high school sweethearts.

I had been to WDW several times from 1971-1989, with all stays being off site. She had never been to WDW. Then in 1999 I had a three day business conference @ Boardwalk Inn. We only had one afternoon free for a theme park, so I took her to Magic Kingdom. She was hooked!

I promised her then that we would return one day, so we are going to be at WDW 9-26 to 10-1. After much research here and on other sites, we decided that POFQ looked right for us. Made reservations in early March. Well, you all know what happend with that.

I took most everyone's advice and waited for "the call". It finally came on 5-17. We took the $10 upgrade to WL woods view, since the WL looked beautiful in all the pictures that we had seen.
But as of yesterday, we had not recieved our new written confirmation. I called CRO about it yesterday afternoon. The nice young lady said that everything was in order in the computer and that she would send out "another" confirmation letter. So, I guess we wait for the new confirmation to arrive.

We are excited about our upcoming trip, and I really feel that you are never too old to enjoy the "Magic".

Happy Anniversary!

I agree, you're never too old! DH and I are "50 something" and we had his father with us last year for his first trip to WDW at the age of 76, and enjoyed every minute of it as much as, or more than, any kid ever could!

Have a wonderful trip--WDW is great in the fall.

Welcome to (posting on) the DIS, fellow NC'er. You will absolutely love the WL. We do, or maybe you can tell that from my siggie.:D

If you have questions about the lodge, come on over to the FAQ section on WL.

Thanks to you all! I had lots of questions about WL, but I think most of them have been answered by my "lurking". I'm sure I'll have more, so stand by!

Today is my anniversary, too - 21 years!!!!

Happy Anniversary and welcome to the DIS! I have stayed at both POFQ and WL. I think that you will really love WL. For a romantic evening take the boat over to the campground and take a carriage ride! (Call to reserve this ahead of time!). Have a great vacation.:)

Happy Anniversary and Welcome to The Dis! You will love the Wilderness Lodge. It is gorgeous. We have stayed at many of the resorts and my dh's favorite is still the WL.

DH and I are living proof that your are never too old to enjoy the magic. We just returned from our 13th trip to WDW. I am 73 and he is 80.

congratulations and happy anniversary.

you will love the wl, it is so romantic. a beautiful resort. hope you two enjoy. i also feel just like a kid everytime i walk in the the mk and get on mainstreet and the castle comes to view. my dh says i am just like a little kid and notice nothing else but looking up at the castle. :D

have a magical time. :D

CONGATULATIONS on your anniversary and your wonderful upgrade! I loved reading your post!!:D

I think it would be really nice to go to Disney in your prime!! :) Dh and I went once before children and hope to go when they're grown- but I'm sure they'll still be wanting to go with us! :) You're doing such a sweet thing for your wife- she'll love it!! I know she'll LOVE Epcot!!
Now, have you checked into PS's? Preferred Seatings? I would highly recommend hitting one character meal- she'll think it's a hoot- Liberty Tavern is very nice with Goofy, Minnie and the gang. And you can't go wrong with Le Cellier in Canada at Epcot- that's if you're a steak fan. Plan some special surprise meals for her and you and enjoy yourselves!!
www.pscalculator.com really helps in planning those dinners!

We were able to stay at the Polynesian last fall because of a similar rehab at Caribbean Beach. We too are in our 50's and enjoy WDW without the kids (as well as with them). You might want to check out Jellyrolls on the Boardwalk, or Pleasure Island. And DH LOVES floating in Castaway Creek at Typhoon Lagoon. We also like to plan enights when available.

I echo the idea of taking the boat to Ft W and checking things out. Trails End is simple, but a great buffet and one of WDW's less known treasures. Try to catch the Electric Water Pageant, too.

Hope all my enthusiasm doesn't overwhelm you!!!

Congratulations! And Welcome!

Everyone is right...you will Love the Lodge!

Don't forget the Hot Tub in the Evening with your sweetheart! Great view of the Lodge from there! ;)

NC oldtimer - you will have a great time! I plan on being hooked on Disney well into my 80's or 90's, riding Tower of Terror all the way.

We just stayed at WL and had a great time. Pool was nice, lobby and other architecture is stunning. Lots of options for recreation or for rest. Have a great trip, and Happy Anniversary!!

Oh you will enjoy the WL...we stayed there for our 35th ann...and many times since....maybe a nice dinner at Artist Point would do for a romantic even...better not take her on the 'DVC' tour or we will be 'welcoming you home'...

Happy Anniversary!!!! Hope y'all have a great time.

You can never be too old to enjoy Disney. IDisney isn't just a destination, it's a state of mind. Just read this board to see it everywhere.

Like AreWeThereYet, I'll be going there as long as possible and riding every ride. Especially Space Montain, got hooked on it when I was 6.
