Went to Best Buy with Chris yesterday - they had 3 Notebook webcams - the clip onto the cover - prices were $50, $60, and $100 - will probably go with the $60 one - Logitech I think.

WalMart has a little Philips keychain camera that sells for around $15 that can be used as a webcam (in case you are looking for a REALLY inexpensive solution). The thing does eat batteries when used as a camera, but it is supposed to get power in webcam mode from the USB cable.

I suppose I should hook the thing up and try using it as a webcam before offering it up as a suggestion. I may do that this afternoon.

**** UPDATE ****
I tried the Philips keychain camera as a webcam and I could not get it to work with AIM.

You know the more I think about this Santa thing, the more I don't like it! I always thought Santa arrived at the malls after the TG day parade. So what's the point of having him in parades then :scratchin

Pammy, going in Feb??? Please please please tell me it is the same dates I will be there :hyper:

Oh and Suzanne, I like Pam's idea... drums are always good :)

I don't know a thing about webcams, I can ask Luis though for ya Paula! I do know I've had great luck with all my Logitech things!

It was chilly this morning too though... I forgot to turn the heat on (I was hot last night) and it was only 60 when I went down to take a shower

Woo hoo for APs!!!!!! I just got mine out to check on it (and Luis') to Nancy! Not sure what I am going to do when it comes time to renew... which is the day after I leave... might go home immediately and renew online :teeth:

John, pity you couldn't get the camera to work. Would've been fun to see ;)

Waiting for my hair to dry before I leave... still plan on zoo and prepping for the trip

Hi Ya Yas!
John, key chain Web cam. Oh how cute. Too bad it's not all that good.

Elaine, I like that your kitties like to be with you while you are playing Internet. Kirby and Missy dogs like to be with me when I play here too. Enjoy the zoo. Last zoo I went to was Cinci and before that it was years. I don't even remember. Sad, I like to go too.

JRKaren, hope ya made lots of vaca money!

Pam, how was the Rockettes? Yippee for DW in Feb. You will have such a great time.

Paula, that's some major cleaning ya got going on there. I've got to do that some day.
:rolleyes1
Nancy yay for the AP. Thanks for sharing the code info.

It is a gorgeous day here. I met with my Saturday funning friends and went out. They are way faster than me, but it was nice to say hi. We will all be gathering for potluck dinner at someone's house. I was going to do Chicken Divan but opted for something even way easier. (Making turkey meatballs and sauce--already made just heat and eat with some chees over top and small bread slices) Hope it works out. Oh the stress of making something pot luck with no guidance. I heard today as we were gathering for our trek that we would have lots of pasta/rice choices so opted for something else. Off to kick up the crock pot a notch and then bath time for me. Heard from Ted, still in Nawlins with 12 hour shifts and still working the dark-time shift trying to sleep in daylight. He may come home Tuesday.

Hey All,

Sorry I have been a little silent but I fell Wednesday night and messed up my wrist, Ive been wearing a brace since and it makes it hard to type. Figures I went the whole time in the dark and never tripped over the dog.....the lights come on and I trip over him. LOL!!! Just got back from wallyworld. The kids needed jeans as its going to start getting cooler here and we needed a couple of things for the house. If anyones kids are reading the Lemony Snicket books the 12th book is now out. Ds loves that series and got his copy today at wallyworld.

Lilly I will be saying prayers that Ted comes home to you on Tuesday. Enjoy your pot luck. I love those. Neat to see what everyone makes. I have a standard that I make for them and thats rigatoni with ricotta and sauce. Easy, inexpensive, and people love it.

Suzanne Im sorry you didnt get to sleep in. My SILs and BIL's used to do the same thing with noisy toys until I started buying them for their kids. I think they got the message because it then went to gift cards ROFL!!!

Paula I have always had good luck with Logitec products.

Pammy I hope you do make it to WDW in Feb. I would love to come up to meet you.

Elaine have fun at the zoo today. Thats one place I havent been in a long time. I wonder how our favorite zoo in Palm Beach County faired during the storm.

Well I think Im gonna get off this thing. Typing this has taken me forever.

I will checkin laters.

HUGS TO ALL!!! :grouphug:

ugh I was trying to help dh move some of the tree debris as it was too close to other stuff and they refused to pick it up the other day and I threw a branch that came back and caught me right in the eyebrow and forehead and cut me open. Thankfully its not too bad but it hurt like crazy and almost knocked me for a loop. I swear I look like the walking wounded!!

Quiet Saturday in YaYaland!

We all know what you are like deep down in side
Whaaaa?! :teeth:

Cute Nancy sig! It's probably weeks old huh?

Darn dog Karen! Take care of that wrist!

Logitech yes/no to Philips keychain. We looked at them a bit yesterday, but too tired and grumpy to think straight, so guess I'll go back another day.

Exchange time!!! :flower:

How is Tara feeling?

Elaine, the series is by Sue Grafton. I haven't started it yet, but did buy the first book "A is for Alibi". The other one is Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series "One for the Money", "Two for the Dough", etc. The Plum series is up to number Eleven. I'm brand new to the Grafton series, so can't tell you much about that one yet. Liz suggested I try it! Yay! Love finding new authors to hunt down. I think I've exhausted all of JE's books. :)

Lily, those Plum books are such fast fun reads! It's easy to see why your mom whizzed through them the way she did. Once you start one, they're hard to put down. :)

Beth, another one not at all surprised by the comments you received from the customer! :) ...and a perfect example of WHY I'm not surprised: thank you so much for the sweet hair compliments! I decided it was time to let it do whatever it wanted to do, because I couldn't decide what to do with it, and fortunately that seems to be working. If nothing else, it's easy to take care of. :p Thank you very much, you're a sweetheart!

Stargate! I love that show!!!

Santa is at the mall already?! The turkey hasn't even had his day yet?! What the heck?!? Poor Santa! I hope he's getting paid overtime for this!

Sigh... playing "Wherever You Are" right now Elaine. Beautiful lyrics everywhere you turn. Cry Out to Jesus is... amazing. *Lyrics that are in Elaine's tag area ya'll*

Lily, I do hope Ted is able to come home on Tuesday. Having DH away from home is never much fun. :(

DisneyWorld for Pam!?! Woooo!!!!

Howdy to Suzanne, Paula, Pam, JRKaren, TC, Sherry, Jeannie, Todd, Tara, Alan.... ever'body!

:

I think it was Monday ;)

We have all the Grafton books. Dave reads them :rotfl: I think I have only read A and B. Only read one Plum book also....still like my J.A.Jance ones better :p
And Dian Mott Davidson too.....like all the cooking and recipes in those.

Kind of bored today too. I really need to get a project going.

So....Kimmie, you playing in the exchange this time? And coming to DisneyWorld in Feb? :teeth:

Oh yeah...my house smells like smoke :( Dave's been smoking turkey legs all day....he goes in and out so much, the house smells like smoke and outside is warmer than inside. Love paying to heat out there

Lol! We can say ******* all we want!??! :rotfl: What else can we say how about Lake Titicaca??

I watched a couple of epis of Stargate-I love it, too! Wait-is that the same as the Serenity movie or is that the one with MacGyver on it? The captain on it-Serenity- is a totally cute dude. I have to brush up on my Sci-Fi channel.

Howdy to all who've checked in-Nancy,Beth(cherie!! tu parles francais!!!), Karen, Lainey, Kimmy, Hi-kickin' Pam, Lily, TC John, Poohzanne, Tara...oooh I know DFRI-Paula! (had to cheat and look that one up!) And hey-to the rest of y'all, too. ;)

Took a long hike on some snowy, icy mountain-i'm off to snuggle up w/ a glass of port. :drinking1

ETA-well, I guess you CAN say Lake Titicaca-the Dis is far too clever to be understood by the likes of us.:)

Hi all... bad allergy day so I didn't go to the zoo after all. Wouldn't help me at all ;) But even if I don't go for animals soon, I will be going for the lights. They start next weekend :hyper:

Been knitting a lot today and I have about 1.5 feet of a scarf (or so I will make it). Not the best, but I have seen worse. Kind of fun to do actually :)

Lily, sounds like you were doing some yummy food there! I hope that the time w/o Ted flies by. Will he be home for Thanksgiving then?
Oh and I can't say I always like my kitties being here while I am online. They kind of get in the way ;)

Karen, be careful... sounds like you haven't been lucky with that lately!

Kimmie, don't deny it ;) And I will have to look into that series. I haven't been reading any series lately.
Oh yeah, I agree... wonderful lyrics on that whole album! I love that song "Cry Out to Jesus" (why it is in my tag ;)) I must admit though, the song "Communion" really still is getting to me. I have no idea why either. Most songs dealing with the idea of communion and the body of Christ get me though.

I agree with Nancy, come join in Feb! Told ya I still have a place in my room for one :teeth:

Nancy, sorry about the house smelling like smoke. I absolutely cannot stand that smell at all. Probably why I don't like smokey tasting anything.

Been quiet here today I see... I hope that means y'all have been enjoying the weather or family (or both actually). I have this bad feeling about knitting. It might cut into DIS time
And I haven't done anything with packing or Christmas cards yet

Hellooo-Lainey! You TOTALLY bottom-of-the-paged me! :badpc: Dangnabit-y'all better go back one, here-I'll help:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=885256&page=166&pp=15

Just kidding. :love2:

Lainey-if you start knitting be prepared to NEVER get up off your butt again! I love to knit and if you're anything like me you will be obsessed until your project is DONE! I won't move, my legs'll go numb etc....anyway, lol, where's Betty!!! I think she made fun of my knitting foray once...I said I might be able to complete a potholder by year's end-she thought I'd better just make it a HAIR SCRUNCHIE!!!AHAHAaha!!! :rotfl:

Later! :wave2:

Just got home from a nice dinner out. Unfortunately I made the mistake of saying to someone that dh works FOR the cable company and we havent had cable since the storm. She then when off on the company to dh demanding to know why her particular development doesnt have cable and that she wont take the answer of we have just had a major hurricane as an answer because she wants to know exactly why. There was just no making this woman understand. I felt so sorry for dh that I said anything. We also met some people who work for FEMA now Im not exactly happy about how things went here in Broward with them in the begining but heck it wasnt their fault it was the govenors for not placing them in the right area. I thanked them for all that they were doing to help us and told them that I would pray that they got home to their loved ones soon. They have been on the road since August with all that has gone on in the Southern States. I just couldnt get over this woman and her cable. I mean get a life its only cable. Read a freaking book or something. What kills me is she has rabbit ears and can get the local stations. Most people dont even have that because you cant get them down here because of the mad rush for them right after the storm. Some people are just so damned spoiled and its all about ME. Having been through a high Cat 3 hurricane I am actually suprised and pleased with how fast recovery is taking place and all the services we are being offered. Most of us lost everything in our fridges and freezers and FEMA stepped in to help us with that, power is up much faster than we expected thanks to the kindness of other states and Canada, street lights are being replaced at an amazing rate making driving for us much safer. Neighbors are helping neighbors, churches are helping communities. Everyone is doing everything in their power to get everything as near normal as possible as soon as possible. Why cant some people see this??? I just dont get it.

Elaine Im sorry you are having problems with your allergies and couldnt go to the zoo today. I hope they get better soon.

Nancy sorry your house smells like smoke. ROFL tell dh he cant come inside the house again until the smoking is finished!!

Elaine I am the worlds biggest klutz and I should have known better than to try and help with the tree limbs but I couldnt let dh do it by himself even though the told me to. Oh well at least the cut isnt too bad and is mostly hidden by my eyebrow. I always told my mom that she should have named me Grace because it would be the only grace I have ROFL!!!! I also have a real nice gash on the same arm as the wrist I hurt from going against a screw that was sticking out of a door. If there is a way to get hurt my body will find it ROFL!!!! Dh swore after todays incident that he was going to buy me body armor ROFL!!!

Boo so glad to see you back. Tell us all about your trip!! I would love to hear about it.

Well I think Im gonna get into my Pjs, ask dh for a nice footie rub and go to sleep. Hope everyone has a wonderful night.

HUGS TO ALL!!! :grouphug:

Jeannie, sorry about that... but if you hadn't of sneated, I would've been the bottom pager ;)

I have no idea why some are starred and some aren't... oh well, makes life fun here doesn't it?

I wouldn't make fun of knitting. It seems to be a very popular thing to do among the younger crowd... I've always wanted to try but never had the help to do it. After a couple weeks of absolute hatred of what I was doing, I tried this today

f17be5fa.jpg

Sorta a scarf looking thing there... all chenille in a great slate blue. Cleo liked it too ;)

Oh allergies aren't terrible, i should've just taken my meds yesterday before and after working on the leaves :teeth:
Sorry about the lady at the restaurant. Some people have no tact no matter what is said

Hey gang,

I've read but too tired to ketchup. But it looks like all are doing well, except Karen!! Watchout for trees and dogs!

Feeling a bit better today. Got the kids' pictures done today and that was exhausting in and of itself  nothing like one kid crying and the other hiding behind the props refusing to join the fun!! Oh well, gotta order a portable sized crib tent for E for the wdw trip. I'm afraid I'll wake in the middle of the night to find him throwing things out of drawers and such!!

I'm glad to know my kid isn't the only one who likes to climb!! So not only will I have his harness/leash at WDW but I'll also have his cage!! :rotfl: I guess I should go join the Bad Parents support thread!!

Okay, gotta go search for this thing! I'll stop back tomorrow!!

Okay, I realize I am short, but come on... I am not that short!!!

Oh wait... different E

Glad you are feeling a little better though Tara. I am sorry that the pics didn't go that well for you, though.

Hi kids I'm home. Had a nice time.

Karen, sorry about your injuries. I think you need to be bubble wrapped.

Elaine, like your scarf thing and kitty too.

Jeannie, my Mom gets like that with her knitting and crochet projects. Well, almost non-stop anyway.

Tara, sorry that the pics were such an event. Hope they turn out good.

Nancy, eeyyewww on the smoke in the house and heating the outdoors. So nice of you.

Tired, g'nite.

 Jeannie.....Stargate=McGyver.....Serenity=Firefly=the guy that was one of the Joey Buchnans on One Life to Live ;)

I think the house will smell like smoke for awhile, but Dave thinks he has perfected his turkey leg recipe (all thanks to WDW  ).

Elaine, sorry you didn't get to the zoo today.
Tara, glad you are feeling some better. Get some rest.

 Lily and everyone else.

hey lookie here... Pam has her own groupies :teeth:

Glad you had a nice time Lily! Did you have a gorgeous day outside as well?

:rotfl:
Just the thought of someone trying to perfect the turkey legs makes me laugh! Luis loves those things though! I never did get into them myself
