Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Saturday/Sunday QOTD: What would you like to see in the next part of the challenge?

I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend!

I missed BL this week, but based on what I read I may just skip the rest of the season. Some of the behavior seems out of line and I figure high ratings reward NBC for stupdity! (Plus I am really into Dancing with the Stars!:woohoo: )

I don't know how much you'd be missing...I think Ron is like the puppet master of the Blue team and I wouldn't be surprised if he manages to split up the mom/daughter that are left. I think he'll make it to individuals and then will make it to the final three because he's not a threat. There's no one I really "love" this season. I really like the cousins (Filipe?) but I don't know what's up with their attitude about the trainer change. It seems like a lot must have been edited out. JMO!

I enjoy the format the way it is. QOTD and reporting weight once a week. That is really what keeps me on track that accountability -- note to self, need to work on accountability to self -- I am glad the COW is back, too.

Have a great week-end everyone! :goodvibes

Friday's QOTD: What is your biggest obstacle to losing weight and how do you overcome it?

Hmmm, it would definitely be my mindset. There are times when "someone" else takes over my body and mind, and all of a sudden I am overeating and "I" don't care. It is weird. I know it is me that is doing it, but something "snaps" and I just start eating, I can justify it, rationalize it, just do it, I feel as if I am not even THINKING, it is just a reaction to something and BAM I am eating, and eating and eating. And then afterward, probably about 1/2 hour all of a sudden I realize what I have done, but I can't take it back. ANYONE ELSE HAVE THAT PROBLEM????
!
I sure do. I do the same thing, and I get so mad afterwards. Mindless and emotional eating are definitely my biggest obstacles. I have a hard time overcoming it, but it definitely helps me to journal, and I've been journalling since thursday, so this has been a better week. If I write it down, before I eat it, I don't want to keep writing as I get up to get more. Doing something with my hands, scrapbooking, knitting will help too. Nights when I'm tired and bored are the hardest, and I try to get up and go to bed, rather than grab junk to eat.

I was down .4 this week, and am back on with the journalling, so I'm going to work toward my original goal for the add'l 6 weeks.

Today's qotd- I think the challenge has been great the way it is, and the daily questions are fun. I'm glad the cow is back too. It's always helpful to have a little more accountability.

I would love to know what you all put down in your food journals...is just the food or do you do more? Points? calories? Feelings? The thought of journaling to me is like keeping a diary w/emotions associated at the time of eating and that overwhelms me and I think I'm doing it wrong so I don't do it...

I do weight watchers, and I write down just the food, and points and subtract from the daily total, so I know how much is left. I use the ww trackers, which have a page for each day, and the 35 flex points that you check off as you go during the week. When I wasn't going to the meetings, I used a sheet of paper for the week, and wrote the same-food and points. I don't write my emotions, but if I did, that might help when I go off the wagon. I find the journalling really helps me keep in control, and helps to realize when I am heading off track. Once I stop writing it down, it is too easy to way overeat, which is how I got where I am. I fold it and put it in my scrub pants pocket when I go to work, so if I eat something that I didn't bring, I can write it right then.

I had a gain this week (well 2 weeks as I was on vacation last week and didn't weigh in)

QOTD - I have mixed feeling about what I'd like to see as a part of the next challenge. I think I'd like to see teams again - maybe with a mid session merge into one. On one hand, this large format means we all get to "know each other" - maybe something that someone posts reasonates with us and we might have missed it had it not been all on one thread. I also know that a tremendous amount of work goes into the record keeping and "moderating" of these challeges and more teams means more work. I also wouldn't want new people to be afraid to join after it starts because they don't "know" the existing team. But on the other hand - I felt like I was more involved and more committed when we were on teams. I felt like I noticed more when someone hadn't posted in a while or when someone had a family situation and I could check in with them or maybe its just that I felt a part of something larger than just *my* weightloss journey.

Friday's QOTD: What is your biggest obstacle to losing weight and how do you overcome it?
Me. That is my problem and I'm still trying to figure out why I do this to me.

I've maintained again. At least it's not a gain, but I'm not my freind over this.

Saturday/Sunday QOTD: What would you like to see in the next part of the challenge?
This is my first BL, I'm thrilled with all the work that is going on behind the scenes and the support given here by the participants. Can't think of an improvement.

Good responses, keep them coming! I will be unveiling the second part of the challenge later this week. I hope everybody had a great weekend, congratulations to all those who lost weight and those who have made their goal!

Monday QOTD: How do you unwind when you are feeling stressed out or overwhelmed?

Good Monday morning everyone.

I had a fairly quiet Sat and a very busy Sunday I brought corned beef and cabbage down to my inlaws along with homemade soda bread. I thought there would be more left overs for my inlaws to enjoy it on Tuesday but a couple of sister in laws showed up and I definitely didn't expect one of them. There were a few leftovers but not enough for the amount of people who might be there on Tuesday.

A funny thing did happen when I made the cabbage. I never cook the cabbage in the corned beef water (I usually steam it in the micro with no butter) but I know that is what mil does so I did it that way yesterday. Dh turned to me and whispered "I like your way of cabbage better" It was nice to hear him say that he liked a healthier version of something he has been eating all his life. Ds said the same thing when we got home. Ds didn't eat any cabbage yesterday.

Don't forget that the COW (challenge of the week) is started back up. If you want to see it here is the link:

Monday QOTD: How do you unwind when you are feeling stressed out or overwhelmed?
I take out my knitting. Something very simple. I know that other people lilke to work on something complicated to take their mind off something. I like something simple. I end up almost praying with each stich. I can really calm me down.

Have a great day everyone.

I sent my weight to Brenda again this weekend. Was that what I was supposed to do still? I didn't see anything about changing that so I hope so! ::yes::

I too will take out one of my crafts, it might be cross-stitching, crocheting, working on a puzzle that DS and I have going, something that keeps my hands busy where I can't think about using them to put food in my mouth:thumbsup2 . Seems when I start feeling stressed, that is when the snacking urge hits.

Monday QOTD: How do you unwind when you are feeling stressed out or overwhelmed?

I hang out with my DS who is 9 or my dog or cat for awhile -- they always make me smile. :goodvibes

I agree Tammy that stress is a bad time that makes me want to snack -- so does boredom. Lately when I have been in the pantry looking for something to nibble on I will ask myself if I am really hungry or just looking for something to do? That works sometimes. I will be glad when the weather improves and I can go outside in the backyard -- now it is a muddy, sloggy mess!

Monday QOTD: How do you unwind when you are feeling stressed out or overwhelmed?

Unfortuantely I like to veg out in front of the TV, and more often than not, with something to snack. THAT is something that I will have to change. Perhaps pulling out the old scrapbook and working on that would be a better alternative.

Oh--that's easy. I talk. Vent anyway to anyone and everyone. Anyone who knows me knows...it's just me doing just that. That's initial happenings I guess. Another thing I do is escape. Usually movies. Or lately Disneyland message boards. ;)

Monday QOTD: How do you unwind when you are feeling stressed out or overwhelmed?
I make myself a cup of tea and come on the computer, or watch the travel channel and escape in my mind. That's the way I should do it all the time, but unfortunately, stress eating is one of my downfalls. These questions are great, make you think, so hopefully next time, we won't eat, we'll think of these suggestions and choose a healthier alternative.

Hey you guys, I am sooo happy!!!!:goodvibes Yesterday was testing for the next belt rank advancement in TaeKwonDo. I have to admit I was nervous. Not sure why, as I know my forms, and can do the technique, I guess I was nervous about maintaining the push up position and the board break. It usually takes me several tries to break the board. As it does for some others as well, but I have had a goal in mind since before the first testing that I wanted to break it on my first try... and guess what?????

I DID IT! I broke my board on the first try!!!!!!
 :woohoo: :yay:

Oh I was so happy, I remember squeezing my hands together and closing my eyes and just being so happy and proud of myself. It was such a great moment. :goodvibes I did better at push up position than I thought I would, but I did fall to my knees for a while. Next time, I really want to stay up the whole time. I am going to really work for it.

We need a pat on my back smilie!!!! I am just so darn proud of myself!:flower3: :cheer2:
