Hey guys, do you have a suggestion on an inexpensive welcome party for about 110 guest? The DH and I are paying for it ourselves so there isn't alot of money to spend. Thanks for your help.

I'd be interested in hearing some responses as well. We would love to do a fireworks dessert party but our guest list is about 130 and need to find something a bit less expensive :confused3
You all always have such great ideas so I'm anxious to hear what y'all have to say :cool1:

I found this on another bride's website. I think it's free. If I'm wrong, someone correct me:

Rehearsal Dinner at the Adventurer's Club at Pleasure Island

We headed off for our rehearsal dinner at the Adventurer's Club on Pleasure Island. This was absolutely amazing! I would HIGHLY suggest this to ANYONE who likes to have a lot of fun and enjoys comedy. We had it downstairs in the library. They had pulled out the small cocktail tables and put four 12-person rounds with black and white linens, candles and cafe chairs. That was a last minute decision and it worked perfectly because it put people in large groups to socialize. We got there at 6pm and the entertainment started shortly thereafter. The comedians were incredible. We had sent them some general info on the group. For example, my mom who dresses to a T and always looks great had gotten her dress for the dinner at TJ Maxx for $39. She somehow manages to find all these great looking things there at a steal. So they went up on stage and made an announcement about my mom's dress. It was great. There were about six characters who mingled with the crowd, made jokes and periodically made sarcastic and hysterical announcements to the crowd. They remembered EVERYONE'S name. I don't know how they did it. And they remembered the strangest things and made up the funniest stuff about them. The dinner was delicious. It was a buffet and then we had pastries and cake for dessert. Around 8, they did the stage show, which was also hysterical. Everyone loved it. We got wristbands to PI with the event, so we all went out afterward. I very rarely drink, only on special occassions. Although I used to "drink" in college. But that night I had about 7-8 drinks (2 usually does the trick for me). I was pretty much having a great time and was TOTALLY relaxed! The rotating dance floor at Mannequins was a major task. We hopped on, which was difficult in and of itself. But when we hopped back off, we were in an area where we couldn't get out, so we had to get on and off again. I thought I was going to hurt myself, it was funny. We got back to the hotel around 12:30am. Of course, I had to get up at 4am to do park photos.

Unfortunately the Adventurer's Club is pricey, otherwise I'd be doing it. I love the place! This is from the Disney Weddings site:

The Adventurers Club
Enjoy a wacky evening at the Adventurers Club at Pleasure Island with a cast of zany characters, set in a 1930's explorers club. The main salon accommodates 50 to 200 guests with a food & beverage minimum of $500++ before 5:00pm and $5,000++ after 5:00pm. The food and beverage per person minimum for this venue is $45. All events must end by 9:00pm. Plated dinners can accommodate up to 50 guests, reception style is up to 200. All of your guests can then continue the party at Pleasure Island with free admission!

Then to add the actors in, it's another $1,800. :(

Here's the page it came from, it's got a lot of other ideas, though they mostly seem to be more expensive than the dessert party.

you could look into doing dinner at one of the buffets those are typically under $24 per adult ie chef mickeys, 1900 park fair, cape may cafe, etc. also get in touch with your em for some ideas for your welcome dinner.

we had our welcome dinner for 50 guests at rainforest cafe at downtown disney for $2000 with a plated dinner. margaritas pizza for appetizers, ceasar salad, due entree of tucsan chicken & mojo bones, chocolate cake with rasberry sauce & drinks, there was also a kids menu. i worked with laurie & the rfc website to book.

..just a suggestion if you are planning to do a meal. With 100+ guests, I guessing you are a custom bride, which means you probably get AP's. Pay the $60 or so and get the Disney Dining Card (you can find more info on allears.net) This card will save you 20% off at almost all food and beverage (including alcohol) at sitdown restaurants (includes buffets) -- It will at the least cover the tip, but with 100+ people, that's alot of money!

We had a welcome party at Winter Summerland Mini Golf by Blizzard Beach. It was $19.95 a person and included a round of mini golf, pizza, beverages, party decorations and balloons, a sectioned off area at the course & 2 cakes. My guests had a ball. Everybody got to meet and interact with each other. We had it from 4-6pm and the course was basically empty.

I was advised that the DDE card only gets you a discount for 10 guests per card - now im sure most places would waive this but just to be aware!!

I know people who have used it for groups of 16+ and only had discount on 10!
