I am wondering how much it would cost to have a welcome party for guests. I will be inviting 85 from Boston, and wanted to welcome them in a fun way. I was thinking of creating welcome baskets, but if the party isn't much more I'd opt for that. Any info?

It depends on where you want to go. A *lot* of people hold theirs at Ohana, which costs $27/person. You can use the Disney Dining Experience card for 20% off, but you can only use it for 10 people.

We're thinking of doing a casual get-together at Ghirardelli at Downtown Disney, but I'm not sure how that would work 'cuz they don't take reservations, and we'd have 30 people to seat!

I'm eager to hear some more suggestions too! popcorn::

I was trying to do a welcome party at Ohana's and was told they no longer accommodate groups over 35. I was also trying to do a Dessert Party at Epcot for about 60 guests and we were looking at a cost of about $3000 (F&B, viewing fee, site rental fee). The Dessert Party was nixed because they are not renting the sites out the week of my wedding :(

At this point I think we have decided to nix the idea of a welcome party. We are going to try and plan a couple of activities that our guests will be welcome to join.

If you find out something different about Ohana's and their groups, please let me know!

I have heard of people having a welcome party at one of the miniature golf courses at disney, they have pavillions and they will provide pizza and soda. It would be fun for everyone and I think the cost was reasonable.

If they aren't renting out the world showcase pavilions for dessert parties in EPCOT, have you considered one at Fantasmic? I know I was heavily discouraged from it because of the unpredictability with the weather but if you really want it they will do it.

Noochez, thanks for the updated info on Ohana.

If it makes you feel any better, some of my guests are grumbling about the welcome party 'cuz they want fewer structured activities and more free time. So maybe some of your guests will be happier to be on their own that night... :thumbsup2

I don't think 30 people will fit comfortably inside Ghirardellies at all lol. There is lots of seating outside by the water though if you didn't mind that.

I have also heard of a Welcome Party at the mini-golf place. This sounds like fun and a great way for your guests to meet. I have also heard of a hay ride at Fort Wilderness or just informing everyone about the camp fire with movies and smores at FW. A less expensive option for 'Ohana would be their breakfast instead of dinner. We are planning on doing the dinner but will only have between 30 and 40 (I have not heard about the no over 35 limit but I will have to check it out).
