Welcome package??

Can someone tell me what is in the welcome package you recieve at check in? I am making my first trip home this July. Also, do they ever offer upgrades as the reg hotels sometimes do? Thanks for your help..See you at home!

The welcome package you receive is a packet of information. It lists some of the schedules at the resort and parks and includes, I think, a list of DVC benefits.

No, they don't upgrade you except in the extremely rare occasion when a set of rooms is not available for some reason. Unlike other hotels and resorts, DVC does not overbook anticipating a percentage of cancellations. So don't look for an upgrade or you will surely be disappointed.

The welcome package is similar to those you receive when you check into any WDW resort. At the DVC resorts, among other things, it includes a listing of the current member perks (including a very portable version called "Pocket Perks"), park maps, a map of the resort and a resort "Newsletter" that lists commonly asked questions and blurbs about various activities/ resort amenities/restaurants and shops.

Upgrades for point stays are so rare you may as well consider them non-existent. In my experience, they are only offered if there happens to be some last minute issue (such as an unforeseen maintenance problem) with the last available room for your category. FWIW, the DVC resorts are almost always booked at or near capacity.
