Myself, DH, DS and DD returned from a DCL cruise at the end of Jan. While on the cruise we took the plunge, literally!:cool1: The incentives were just to much to pass up. We purchased a 160 pt contract at SSR. We received 100 developer points, the 2007 use year points with no annual fees, no annual fees on our 2008 points, $400 towards our closing costs, plus an additional $500 towards our down payment. The $500 was supposed to be a shipboard credit, but since it was so close to the end of the cruise they added it to the down payment they give you. This was more than they had ever offered us in the 3years we have been considering DVC. When we first looked at DVC it was under $90 a point! I could kick myself. We had been working on being debt free for about 3years and have been debt free for a while now. We got the retirement all set up and the kids college funds rolling. I think that is one of the things that pushed us through on our decision. We will be able to have the DVC payed off in about 8 months.
DH had always been the one to say no, its not a good time. We were in the room for all of 5 min and he said "Lets do it!" I about dropped over!:rotfl: So we left the boat DVC members.

So what was the price per point? Did you get it for $94.00 per point? Curious, as we are taking a cruise in April, and we are considering an add-on. Thanks for the info!:goodvibes

What a GREAT souvenir!

:woohoo: to you! enjoy the magic:wizard:

did you rebook another cruise while onboard for the discounts?;)

Technically, yes the price per point figured at $94.00 per point. The rest of the incentives were the extra points with no fees, reduced closing costs and the extra $500 for the down payment.

We did not rebook while on the ship. We went 1/20-1/24 and it was roughly $1450 for the four of us in a Cat. 10 Dlx. Inside room. To go at the beginning of June 09, in the same stateroom was over $4000!:scared1: We didn't want to go in Jan. again because the weather wasn't great. But I can not (and will not) pay $4000. Maybe in a few years we might try again.
