Just spoke with DVC CM and he mentioned a welcome home update sales pitch thing at Disney Springs. Said it’s about 30-45 minutes with free drinks/snacks and a gift for attending.

Can’t find much info online about this. Has anyone gone?

I purchased resale last year (from UK seller) but I’m still eligible to attended these types of events, correct?

Don't expect much. The free drinks/snacks is more like a bag of chips and a soft drink. The sales pitch is a standard "did you know you could use your points for ....". The gift will be either a lithograph or a DVC logo slider. Nothing spectacular.

Thank you. After hearing this I am going to cancel. Not worth my time.

Update to the update …
Reconsider your decision .. I recently have visited twice and almost returned today … It is fun to experience the DS location for the interactive Door to enter the World of DVC short film .
The actual meet with a guide will probably require an appt … it is pretty popular to go up the elevator for the full experience.
I decided to make an appt for the “ Update” when I was at the Riviera
I think everybody ( group of about 15 ) showed up on time and we watched a new 20 minute film that I enjoyed very much !
Then we received this gift

Oh wow. That’s seems like a nice thing. Every person in the party received a bag? We have appointments for later this week just wanted to see what it’s about before I committed the time to go to DS.

Sorry limit one per membership no matter how many memberships or guests.
And they seemed to keep it documented .

The welcome home update is a nice enough event. There is a sales pitch to add on but in typical DVC fashion it is very soft.

I think it's worthwhile to attend, if you've got 30 minutes or so to spare one day of your trip. You can do the update at Springs, Saratoga, or Riviera. I did mine at Riviera where we met in the model Grand Villa.

The bag is made of the cheapest materials possible and is really not worth the effort to get, I feel like it will rip if you try to put anything even remotely heavy in it like a water bottle. The presentation itself is just interesting, I like seeing what DVC is focusing on.

In particular, how quickly they gave up trying to sell the cabins. I still wonder if anyone is getting fired over that debacle.

Where did you hear that they gave up trying to sell the cabins?

Honestly, my speculation is still that these are going to either be part of a new resort added to the trust and sold as a package.

Or, because of the nature that these are indivual units, they need to be sure that they are ready for occupancy before they are oversold.

The lack of incentives given poor sales means they have a plan that we don’t yet know.

Let me clarify. The cabins are still being actively sold, but they spent very very very little time on them during the presentation granted my presentation was at Riviera, but it felt like it was a prepackaged presentation that is the same no matter where you get it so it feels like they’re ready to move on from the cabins. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the rebirth of reflections get rolled into the cabins, but I also obviously would not buy the cabins with that expectation until it is confirmed, signed, sealed, and delivered. Maybe that is why they’ve put the cabins on the back burner right now they’re just waiting for the right time to announce the rebirth of reflections who knows

Agree on the bag. When she handed me the bag after the presentation I had to look twice to make sure there was actually something in the package. It was like heavy air. Felt very cheap and I wouldn't trust it to hold much more than a bottle of water.

At the D23 Expo a few weeks ago, it was very interesting to me that the DVC booth focused on the Island Tower and VDH. The magical door was also installed and had Riviera as an option as normal. They had a ton of photos of Island Tower and couldn’t discuss them given we don’t even have an on sale date yet.

Not a single bit of information about the Cabins on display whatsoever.

Just a super interesting marketing choice.

I felt the same way going to their booth. The only thing was a Cabin sticker from their stand

Update: I went. Only 5 of us there. Videos about Rivera and Cabins. Then they started talking about the hotel exchange program. Was already at 45 minutes due to the other participants bragging about their past vacations, resorts, etc, and I was late for dinner reservation.

Got the bag, and had to leave. Wouldn’t say it was worthless, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to attend one again in the future. If it was convenient, maybe I would.

I have one scheduled for tomorrow, but now I'm thinking that time will be better spent by the pool (if it isn't rainy...)
