Welcome Home-Our 1st DVC Trip Link to TR pg 53

Hi Mary! I'm in!! The girls look so excited to be at Disney....of course!! So sorry about your friend Tanya, so sad :sad2: I can't even imagine the strength it would take to loose a child and a husband.

Can't wait to see pics of SSR and to hear about Caley taking a few laps in the fountain!!:lmao:

Hiya Wendy

They were!! Thanks so much. They are trying to raise $$ for the funeral.
Update coming up!

The ME pulled up in front of the Carriage House and off we hopped. Made our way into the lobby. Since I was a dork and took zero pics all these are courtesy of AllEars.

I walked right up to the online check in person. I had made 2 requests. Grandstand and top floor. She has all the info ready for me. She says "You are in the Paddock area" I said "Oh, I had requested Grandstand". She said that she could look in Grandstand but our room was right next to the quiet pool and a little playground. Right out in fromt was the bridge to the "Main" area. I said it would be fine. She did ask if I was sure-which I thought was nice. She then said we were on the first floor. I am not at all fond of "elephants" overhead, She did look but there were no upper floor rooms. Oh well. We actually did not hear anything until the last 2 nights and it was not bad at all.

A nice CM and his golf cart took us to our room. He showed us the nearest bus stop-which was right there. We walked through a door at the side of the building at found our room. There was a cute "Welcome Home" doormat in front. Which is part of the trip title since C then said "Welcome Home" every chance she got :)

We walked in to the room and saw a little hallway. To the right was the connecting door to the room next door. We put our stroller there. There was also enough room for a suitcase. a Little further down was the kitchenette area,

It was a cute area and we did use the sink but that was about it. We also charged our phones there. never used the toaster or microwave.

To the left was the sink area and bathroom. There was just one sink but the counter was plenty big.

A little more hall and then the beds. On the other side were the table and chairs and TV.

The sliding glass door was at the end of the room which opened to a little patio with chairs.

It was a nice room overall but a little crowded. We left the sofa bed pulled out that the girls slept on. We stayed at CBR in a pirate room last year and I would say the rooms were of comperable size. It is fine now when the girls are small but I can really see the need for more room in a few years. I will post pics of the building, bridge etc in future updates. I have a new laptop and the pics are not on here yet.

Up next, off to Epcot for a DIS Meet.

Hi Mary, stumbled upon the TR and looking forward to reading more.

A number of years back I did Christmas at OKW and we had a great time.

Very sorry to hear about your friend and her horrible loss.

So funny that you forgot to take pictures as you walked in. LOL....

I'm happy to hear that the CM gave you some opitions of where to stay. We had the same requests when we stayed at SSR. We actually got them. Bryan was super-excited because we had the golf course view in the Grandstand - in the next building away from the pool. He was in heaven for the week. Bryan likes his 1BR. His selling point when I was doing my convinceing was that we could have a separate room and go to sleep when we wanted to after the boys. However, I think we would get a studio if we took a trip without the kids. Alisa and I are talking about a girls only trip too.

I didn't realize you were in a studio this trip, I can see where that would get tight, quickly. I hope the location ended up being great!

That would be a nice compromise-am at home aft at Disney-the time difference would not work for us:sad2: It was actually Hubby who suggested it on Christmas last year. It was a little hectic with all his family :rolleyes1 Congrats on Oct-I am hoping to go in 2011 and yay for March. Thanks for the prayers-it is in God's hands.

We are lucky to have a less than two hour flight, so it worked nicely.

We did a Thanksgiving week trip a couple of years ago, and that was very nice. There was no tugging from family to family for anyone on 'the day'. They just told everyone else they would have to do Thanksgiving early or late, because they were going to Disney World. I was pretty happy with having Chef Mickey prepare the Thanksgiving Day mess and clean it up for me, too. :thumbsup2

I am going to be seeking out a new laptop soon. What did you get, and what made you choose it?

Enjoyed the pics of the studio at SSR. I can see that it might get a little tight if your kids were older.

Uhmmm, going to a DIS meet? That sounds like fun. Can't wait to hear about it! ;)

Too cute that C kept saying "Welcome Home" throughout the trip--love it! Can't wait to hear about the DIS meet.

I am a little slow like that :rolleyes1 I am glad u got ur requests. I think a 1bdr is going to spoil us. A girls trip would be so fun.

Great room update. We're staying there in July. Any suggestions or tips to share?? ;)

Um close your eyes when you go in, Just kidding. After that spectacular room at AKV it is going to be a change. Just keep telling yourself "It is a short trip and we won't be in the room much" It was fine, just a little small.
