welcome bag letter/info letter included w/invitations...

did anyone do this? marion suggested it, since we need to STRESS to our guests that they MUST not miss the bus the morning of the wedding...and also how to make reservations, etc...did anyone include anything else?

in the welcome bag letter i was going to add some caryn/mark trivia etc...

I dont want to do welcome bags at all... Is this completely against etiquette? I've never been to a wedding where I've gotten a bag.

To keep on topic... I'm putting a "Wedding Day Itinerary" sheet in with my invitations that spells out that even though guests are not staying on property they must catch the bus at one of the 4 locations, and then the times. I also have it a couple times on our website (which I'm putting plenty of links to in my invitations).

i'm not a huge fan of the welcome bags, but my mom is, so we're doing them. i figure it'll be an easy way for me to get this information to them...

when are you sending your invitations out? since our weddings are so close to one another, i'd be interested to know...i was thinking around nov 15, i'm worried that since our invitations have to go all over the country and it's right around the holidays, that people won't get them in time to respond by dec 24...

Welcome baskets are a personal decision. Some folks do them, and some folks don't. I wouldn't stress too much over it. Your loved ones will simply be at your FTW because they want to share in your happiness. They don't expect anything in return. Honestly.

At the Welcome Party that was held on the night before my vow renewal, my Event Manager handed out a sheet of paper to each of my guests. This sheet of paper listed the schedule for the next day, including the time-line for the chartered motor coach. Since my dinner reception was being held after-hours inside a theme park (Disney-MGM Studios), the only way my guests could get to my event was via this motor coach. (I had informed everyone of this in advance.)

For those who are considering doing a Welcome Basket, please ask your Event Manager for your event's time-line in advance. He/She should be able to supply it to you.

I had never heard of 'welcome bags' before I joined this site but i like the idea. I think that it may end up very expensive to do for all the guests so we have decided that we will do them for the kids only.
For the adults we will include park maps, itineraries and some candy with their invitations.

I'm trying to get mine out this week, because I'm going to put December 1st as the RSVP by date, and I'd like to give everyone 4-6 weeks to respond. We're going up to Michigan to see my parents over Christmas and I dont want to spend our entire vacation calling people who havent RSVP'ed yet, or worrying about who has a hotel reservation yet or who doesnt. I want everything set and done before company parties, holiday shopping and my vacation. Everyone's had the save the dates since August, so they are well aware that they should be planning to come, or they already know that they cant come.
