Weird question about biometric scan

My DH lost his index finger on his right hand in an accident (it's down to the knuckle). Do you have to do the biometric scan on a certain hand (he's left handed)? I just thought about it when i was reading someone else's response. Things that make go Hmmmmmmm.

we have this system at work and you can use the three middle fingers. Our corporation has had this about 5/6 months now.
