So I called MS to transfer points to another person's acct. They said, fine, we'll work on it. Then someone called me back about 15 min. later to say, "Oops. You can't transfer until your building opens on May 17th" (we're SSR).
Does that sound weird to anyone?
I had asked them about borrowing points before SSR closing and they had said that was fine (just two days ago). Why is this different?

Sounds right to me. IIRC, we've never been able to transfer points before closing, even when the resort was already open. We have been able to make reservations before that, though. I don't think we were allowed to borrow points before closing when we first bought in 1999, but I think I read that they recently changed that rule.

My "guess" is that if DVC allowed transfers before closing, MS would have to track them manually and that is just too much work.

The good news is that May 17 is less than two weeks away.

Best wishes -

well, members since `99 and with thousands of posts, I'd guess you know what you're talking about!

Thanks--but I'm still slightly irked (mostly because it's such a fun thing to say "irk irk irk").:teeth:

My question is "Is that picture on your post from "Song of The South." And if it is How did come across a bootlegger?

It is possible to have a copy of the movie "Song of the South" that is not a bootleg copy.
Disney released the movie for sale in other countries.
My copy is from Japan. It has both English and Japaneese settings for the sound. It also has Japaneese subtitles with the songs.

I know this is off the subject of the post, but this movie is very available on eBay. I saw one LD, several VHS PAL.
I even saw someone selling the DVD and they had 37 copies available to sell.

I can't even remember where I got it! I think I was just following links to put something fun and Disney-ish in my signature. (It was even more dull formerly).
Being a Splash Mountain FAN (yes, in big letters) I had to go with this one!
Please don't report me to the Song of the South police! I love my picture!:scared:

That is correct you cannot transfer/borrow points yet, not until you close, you can make a ressies as long as the ressies takes place after you close. and you cannot not borrow points to transfer them to another member , they have to be current points, that goes for banked points too.

DVC is not going to let you take points you don't even own yet and do something that is irreversible like a transfer, II deposit, etc. They will let you do some other things like make reservations. In the past they wouldn't even let you borrow to make a reservation until you'd closed and/or your building had opened, whichever was later. If I were them, I woulldn't let a buyer dispose of points I couldn't get back either.

You can now bank and borrow in order to secure a reservation. It used to be your guide had to do it now they just get a supervisor.
