Weird laundry story

My Nana passed away in September. She was very religious (Catholic) and was always giving us miraculous medals and cards with the Virgin Mary on them. To her great dismay, most of us grandkids do not go to church or really follow the Catholic faith (I am not trying to start a religous discussion, this is just background info). When she passed away she asked all of us to "find the church again" and to pray. Well, I did tell my Nana I would pray for her (and I do pray in my own way... while I'm not practicing any particular religion I do believe there is something bigger than us out there) but I am still just a weddings and funerals kind of church go-er.

Ok so now to the weird part. I found a gold miraculous medal in my washing machine while doing laundry. Odd. I have 2 boys who are forever putting stuff in their pockets so I am very careful about checking pockets. There was nothing in the pockets before I did the wash. I asked my kids about it, if they had seen it before and my son said "YES! I dreamt about that thing, what is it?" He wouldn't really know because, again, we are wedding and funeral church go-ers. He asked me if he could have it, and I gave it to him after explaining what it was.

SO, it gets weirder. We were at a family gathering this past weekend and 2 other family members have found miraculous medals in their washing machines. They say that they didn't have them in any pockets or anything, they just showed up in the wash. We were all kind of freaking out. I mean, seriously, what are the odds of that. In the wash?!?!?!?!??! I would be very suspect if I heard this story, so I totally get it if you are rolling your eyes right now but each person who has found a medal in the wash previous told someone else about it, so it appears to be legit.

I'm thinking my Nana is trying to tell us something.

you gave me goosebumps.
I think Nana is reminding you to pray and find the church again.

I am the same type of Catholic as you OP.:)

Wow!! I'm kind of a lapsed Catholic myself but I think that would get me to church, lol.

That is just bizzare!! *insert Twilight Zone music here*

That is a neat story and I totally believe it! It reminds of the 'pennies from heaven.' If you've never heard about that it's about a penny showing up at odd times whenever you have been thinking about a lost loved one. It's suppose to be a message from them that everything is okay and they miss you too.

I have had the penny happen to me so many times, it's freaky!

That is a lovely story and I would certainly honor and respect your lost loved one in the way that you feel comfortable.

Having said that, I find things in my washer all the time that were in pockets of previous loads - sometimes something will get lost in the washer and not surface for months! I think there must be a little area under the agitator that traps things, and sometimes they just work loose and get back up to the washer floor, so to speak.

In my case, irt's usually earrings and bobby pins - maybe my late mother is trying to tell me to spend more time on my appearance!!

 I love the story.

I think it is time to tell more Nana stories to children. Her faith was important to her, this is a gentle reminder for you to tell your children why.

My Baba was a God-fearing Catholic woman. I love to tell her stories to my children, even though we too are not active participants in a religion.

I love it when things like that happen. :wizard:

did I know your grandma?
I was cleaning the attic on Saturday and going through tons of junk. I saved everything, all my 33 year olds toys are now downstaris for his 4 year old son.
Anyway, I was going through some old computer games on floppy discs. they were in one of those plastic boxes like CD cases. Down at the bottom I found a Virgin Mary medal. My boys never touched the floppy discs, they wereusing CDs by the time they used the computers. I don't remember every having a virgin Mary medal, only a St Gerard medal when Iw as pregnant with my boys.
So maybe someone is telling me it is time to get back to my church too.
