weird check in mail....

Today we got a check in the mail made out to DH at our address from a Capella, Inc. in Arlington TX. It says it is for commissions in March and April and the total is $181.
DH has no idea what the heck it is for. He runs his own business here in Toledo and doesn't work for anyone else. There is no phone number and no info in the check other than the breakdown of payment. The return address is a PO Box.
I am thinking this is a scam and if we cash the check we'll probably be involved in a pyramid scheme or something. Anyone ever here of Capella, Inc.? I tried an internet search and got 159,000 plus results--but when I narrowed it down to include Arlington, TX came up with nothing.

Was it a letter that came with the check??? Does the check say "non-negotionable" on it anywhere??? We get a lot of fake checks in the mail promising a certain amout if we sign up for something. They get torn up and thown in the trash.

Also, check on the back to see if there are lines to endorse. Sometimes "fake" or "signup for service checks" have a small in tiny tiny print disclaimer on the back before you endorse.


Check also about issuing bank.

The issuing bank is Comerica Bank Texas. There is nothing by the endorsement line except the usual "do not write or stamp below this line". It doesn't say "non negotiable" either--I've gotten those too, mostly from credit card companies.
It is "Cappela Inc."--and believe me, DH would be the last one here doing anything with music!
I am wondering if maybe DH has a supplier with some kind of incentive program he is unaware of--although I don't know why the $$ wouldn't go to the business address.
I'll keep trying! The return address on the envelope is Arlington TX, but on the check it is Grand Prairie, TX.

**update**--just called directory assistance--no listing for Capella Inc. or the Capella Group in either Grand Junction or Arlington! Only PO Boxes. Am thinking about sending a letter asking what the heck is going on and not cashing the check until we find out.

Just out of curiousity I did a search using "capella inc" and "texas" and did get a result. I will PM you the Url. The site that came up actually has a longer name, but since it is in Arlington, I thought you might want to give it a try. I can't read the site since it is in Spanish.
