Weird AP Question

I've done a search on the boards and haven't found an answer to an unusual question I have.

When I purchased DVC, I received two APs as an incentive. I have a trip planned in August but will not return to WDW until 2011. Obviously the AP is only good for one year. I was wondering whether it would be better to switch to non expiring park hoppers. This way I would have two main park days left over as well as DQ and water park days for our next trip.

Is this doable and has anyone else done this? I called MS and they weren't able to answer my question so they directed me to contact my guide who unfortunately isn't' available today.

I'd save the vouchers for the annual passes for a future year and just buy a non expiring 10 day ticket now. I also took the A/Ps as my incentive for an add on last week rather than the 3 day cruise or $600 additional cash discount. I have two vouchers already for future A/P renewals so I'll be holding on to my incentive vouchers for at least another couple years before I use them.

I agree with Inkmahm, I'd hold the vouchers for future use and buy the tickets you need for this upcoming trip. I hold vouchers all the time, so you won't have an issue if you don't exchange it for a few years.

If you want to exchange your vouchers for regular non-expiring tickets I'm sure they could accomodate you at any guest services. Probably threw the CM since most people ask to upgrade the regular tickets to AP's and not the other way around.

I would double check in case incentive AP's have different rules. They may not have a cash value or may have an expiration date.

When we purchased, our Annual Pass certificates expired within a year I think it was. Read carefully along the bottom...have a fun trip!:thumbsup2

These were promotional ticket media, and most likely have no dollar value to trade for anything else. Much like complimentary tickets, convention ticket media, etc. which also cannot be exchanged or upgraded.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured. That's ok because after I'm thinking after my youngest son's grad trip in 2011 I'll probably plan my first adults only trip 11 months out - this way I'll get at least two uses out of the APs.

As for expiration, my guide told me that the APs I was given won't until one year after first use. Hmm, maybe I need to double check the fine print.

I also double checked with my guide before selecting the vouchers as my incentive as we already have annual passes just renewed and couldn't use the vouchers if they had an expiration date.

The paperwork that came with the add on points also said they did not expire if used for WDW. There WAS an expiration date (June 2010?) if used for Disneyland though.

I'd buy something independent and keep the AP for a better time, even if they would allow you to trade them for a credit, which they likely won't.
