OK. I'm considering upgrading to APs for my immediate family during our May trip. We are scheduled to stay at DI&S, but the recent post regarding the theft at this hotel is making me reconsider...So, I have a couple of questions.

1. If I upgrade to an AP on our first day, after using our MM, and have paid for parking, and buy the parking in addition to the Deluxe AP for mine, will I be able to get reimbursed for that first parking fee I already paid?

2. If I use my AP with parking for parking, then my dad and mom drive back to the hotel and leave the rest of us at the park, will my dad need me and my AP in order to park when they return or will he have just a receipt to show to get back in?

We're back to the planning stage again...

Yes you will get your parking fee back. Just show the receipt. Not sure about in and out, though. I've never done it.

If you add parking to your AP then yes, take your receipt with you to the AP processing center and they will give you back $15.00.

To be honest, I'm not sure how they will handle that. With other cars, when you pay for parking, all you need to show is the receipt. When I use my AP to park, they give me a "receipt", but to be honest I'm not quite sure what it says exactly. It doesn't say that I paid for parking, it says that I used an AP, so I feel like they might be inclined to ask to see the AP to verify. I'm leaning towards saying you have to be with them, but I just can't be sure!

Answers above :)

well the parking ticket will have your name on it, if they leave chances are that even if they have the parking ticket to show for re-entry, they may ask to see the AP also...and no one other then you can use that AP.

the parking reciept or ticket does have your name on it.. i have had to show it when i left once and then came back....

Yes your initial parking fee will be refunded.

They have recently changed how they handle reentry for parking with APs (since they started scanning them in the parking lots)....you must have your parking ticket for reentry, you do not need your AP for reentry (only for the initial entry).

I've done that, parked and then had parking added to my AP. :) We paid the fee when we got to the structure, parked, went to the AP processing center (we had AP vouchers) and at that time added parking to my Deluxe AP, I showed the receipt for parking and received credit for what I had paid. :)
As for in and out, they will need to see the receipt and yes, we have been asked for the AP as well. Not every time but enough to make me not want to try that. :)

I have a general question about parking with an AP.

When I renew my AP, how do I add parking/ how much is it?

It's very easy to do online. When you go to renew, it will show you the different options of pass for which you are eligible. For example, it will list:

Deluxe Annual Pass: $329
Deluxe Annual Pass with Parking: $428

You just select what kind you want and how many. To add parking to an annual pass, the cost is currently $99.00. Premium Annual Passes include parking in the cost and are currently $459. My opinion is that if you are going to have a Deluxe AP and add parking, you may as well add the extra $31 to get a Premium; You have NO blocked days and you get higher discounts. I see you're from Santa Barbara though, so if you plan to get one of the SoCal passes, it's cheaper to just add the $99 parking.

it really nice not having block out days!! it's really worth doing premium if you want the parking.. and you get higher discounts!

Thank you! That's what I thought... a friend told me that if you go to the park, pay for parking, go to the ticket booth to purchase an AP and present your parking ticket, that your parking ticket alone gets you free parking on your AP... but I just didn't buy it.

Thanks for affirming that!

Uhh...lol...huh?? :rotfl:

Maybe what your friend was trying to say (or maybe what someone told your friend and your friend misunderstood) is that when you buy an AP online that includes parking, your AP will not be in the system until you have activated it in the parks. That means that you have to pay the $15 for that first day of parking, then you take the receipt to the AP center and they will give you back $15 cash to reimburse you :thumbsup2
