Weird and Ninja’s Pre-Disneymoon [Completed!]

I'm still following too to see if you run into any interesting characters.

Wednesday, April 7: Touring Tomorrowland

After Weird beat me on Buzz Lightyear once again, we decided to head to my all-time favorite ride. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved the Tomorrowland Transit Authority (this was last year, so it's before they changed the name once more).

IMG_2809.jpg

Doesn't the ceiling part here seem very un-Disney-like?

IMG_2811.jpg

When I was little, I enjoyed this flat escalator. As I get older, I get worried that I'll lose my balance! Is that weird?

IMG_2815.jpg

I was excited to ride this because a while back, Weird had told his coworker that he wanted to propose to me on the TTA while IllumiNations was going on. Hehe, this was before he knew much about Disney because as we all know, IllumiNations is at Epcot! I think part of me was hopeful that he'd propose, but I also knew it wasn't going to happen this trip.

A097.jpg

Don't people take pics from higher up to make themselves look thinner? I don't know if that did us any good ...

A098.jpg

This is when Weird took the photo of me that I used on the introduction for the TR.

IMG_2816.jpg

After that pic, Weird moved on over to sit next to me! We stretched out our legs to relax. Look at our very cool New Balance sneakers! I think this was the first time that my feet weren't in incredible pain by the end of the night. In the past, I've worn Reeboks and Skechers and crocs, but my feet were good in NB!

IMG_2820.jpg

Seriously, I love ride vehicles!

IMG_2821.jpg

We ended up having the entire "car" to ourselves. We were right behind my mom and Matt, but it split between us.

IMG_2826.jpg

Weird snapped pictures throughout the ride.

IMG_2829.jpg

I thought this was a pretty great shot of Astro Orbiter because I have never seen the top of it. I like that you can see the people waiting in line to ride. I will never ever ride this!

IMG_2836.jpg

This was always one of the best rides as a child. We had to go on it often when Matt was little because like most boys, he loved the whole car thing!

IMG_2841.jpg

As we headed to Space Mountain, I explained to Weird that I used to think that the stars shooting across the ceiling were the cars for the coaster! That's why I never wanted to ride it. I did end up riding it twice in a row during one trip, but it just wasn't the most fun for me because I got a slight headache afterwards. Or maybe the headache was during another trip with my dad. Either way, I don't ride it anymore.

IMG_2844.jpg

I love that even from up above, you can clearly see that there's an ice cream stand on the bottom lefthand corner of this pic! I wonder if that was part of the planning. "Hey guys, let's make the words 'ice cream' much larger so that it can be seen from many points of view!"

IMG_2846.jpg

Take a picture!

IMG_2850.jpg

This Thirst Rangers thing looks like the spaceship from Little Einsteins.

IMG_2851.jpg

These are my kind of palm trees! I'd like to have some back home!

IMG_2854.jpg

As you can see, I took a video during the ride. I can't get it to upload to Photobucket though probably because the file is too large. I narrated a lot of the ride and made comments, so I'm disappointed that I can't post it here!

IMG_2858.jpg

One day this lady is going to rip that thing off her head and pound on the glass saying, "Can't a lady get her hair done in peace?!?" Creepy. Now I just scared myself ...

IMG_2859.jpg

Do you see that HUGE sea of blue t-shirts in front of the castle? I wonder what that was. I think Sarah ended up telling me what it was, but I don't remember. Oh wait, you don't know about the DIS meet yet, hehe.

IMG_2864.jpg

Catching up with my mom and Matt!

IMG_2865.jpg

Love this!

IMG_2872.jpg

Ahh, what a relaxing and fun ride! If there's some way I can eventually show the video, I will. The new narration is on it, so I was disappointed with that, but there were fun moments in the video! For example, at one point an empty car passed us in the opposite direction and Weird waved to it! I also joked about his taking a pic of absolutely everything! "Roof! Take a picture! Tree! Take a picture!" Haha. Well, until the next update ... have a great and magical day!

Love your ride on the TTA and all your pictures!!

Upload your video to youtube. I want to see it. I've only been one it once, and I was too amazed and fixed on getting a good night picture of the castle to remember much of the ride.

Awww, it would be cute to propose there, and then happily enjoy the ride as fiance and fiancee!

Hm....I also have feet problems. Maybe I should give NB a try? I'm always looking for a good sneaker. I hear Asics is really good too.

First, love the TTA! That's my fave too. I always have to ride it multiple times a trip. I just love relaxing and watching the scenes as you glide by.

Also, love the idea of being proposed to on TTA as fireworks are going off. That would be awesome!

Um, I love how you said the Thirst Ranger station looked like Rocket from The Little Einsteins, because that's exactly what DD said each time we passed it. She kept asking me why we never got to meet him. :confused3

If we read Sarah's report we do :thumbsup2 Of course she told us about it so long ago that I'm not sure I really remember much about it

LOVE the TTA! Thanks for all the great pictures.

Yes it does!

When I was little, I enjoyed this flat escalator. As I get older, I get worried that I'll lose my balance! Is that weird?
Not weird. I always think someone is going to tumble down backwards at me on that escalator.

Cute pic of you!

One day this lady is going to rip that thing off her head and pound on the glass saying, "Can't a lady get her hair done in peace?!?" Creepy. Now I just scared myself ...
I can see this being part of a future Kingdom Keeper book! :rotfl:

Hi Rachel! I'm still here too. :wave2:

Yay! I gotta get up to our DIS meet so I can post that pic!

Ooo, I didn't think of YouTube. I'll do that soon.

I heard good things about Asics too. I got NB before Asics became so well known. I would stick with NB anyway because my podiatrist (I had a yucky ingrown toenail) years ago told me to get it because it provided good support (this was before Asics popped on the scene).

TTA is our absolute favorite as well! The most relaxing ride at WDW.

I agree. I love the length of it too because you really do get to take a load off your feet!

I love people watching on the TTA too!

Hehe, I think it's so cute that DD saw Rocket! I didn't know that it had a name, haha. I just knew it looked like it from the commercials I've seen.

If we read Sarah's report we do :thumbsup2 Of course she told us about it so long ago that I'm not sure I really remember much about it

LOVE the TTA! Thanks for all the great pictures.

That's so true! Haha, that was AGES ago. She finished that trip report from that trip along with ANOTHER trip report and now she's writing ANOTHER one while I still have not yet finished THIS one!

Yes it does!

Not weird. I always think someone is going to tumble down backwards at me on that escalator.

Yeah, I fear that someone will fall backwards too! I have that fear on regular escalators too. That's why I kind of brace myself for it.

I can imagine being on the other side of the glass and looking out at all the people constantly passing by. What a weird perspective that must be!

Wednesday, April 7: Being Stitch Rich

After riding the TTA, we stopped by Mickey's Star Traders or Merchant of Venus. I don't quite know all of my gift shop names yet! I'm sure that I will after a few more trips with Weird because we do actually stop inside to take a look once in a while. When I'm with my family, we rarely go! My dad doesn't want to hear about spending any money in the parks that's not necessary considering how much it costs to get in there in the first place! If anything, it's fun to go in stores to look at the details of the design! I mean, look at the ceiling here.

IMG_2873.jpg

Look at Stitch! What a troublesome fella.

IMG_2875.jpg

I saw Stitch hats and wanted to take a picture with it on since Weird was there! When we played Virtual Magic Kingdom, the Stitch hat was a RARE item. Players could only get the card with the code on it if they booked a vacation to DLR at a certain time. Basically, if you had the hat in the game, you were considered "rich." It was difficult to trade for it, but I did get it eventually! I was able to trade a lot of things to get my virtual hands on many "rich" items mainly because I wanted a princess Minnie hat, which was my favorite thing ever (I traded for the rare things so that I could finally get my Minnie hat).

IMG_2877.jpg

While in the store, we had some fun listening to these. If they were cheaper, I might have been tempted to get one to keep at school!

IMG_2883.jpg

I recorded a video of it so you could hear them along with my commentary! I'm such a great teacher, aren't I? Hehe.

Walking outside, Weird took a pic of Astro Orbiter. I like that you can see a guy in an orange shirt riding it. I guess I never really looked up while on ground level.

IMG_2885.jpg

Looks like we headed back to Buzz Lightyear once again! Why not! I think we had another set of FP to use. I said earlier that we go on this ride the most, and this is proof of that!

A100.jpg

Did I get a higher score or did Weird? Um, Weird did ... haha. It was okay though. He had to give me a kiss since he won ;)

IMG_2890.jpg

I know this is a blurry picture, but it really makes me look at the colors of this ride. I wonder how long it took for the Imagineers to settle on this color combination.

IMG_2891.jpg

I still wasn't anywhere near the higher ranks!

A103.jpg

Oh well, there's always next time! And there will always be future trips! I really hope they NEVER get rid of this ride. I just wish there were Purell dispensers at the ready once you get off this ride, haha.

Oh, cool, look at that Stitch! Reminds me of the Donald in the gift shop at PhilharMagic.

I never played VMK but with all your references I kind of wish I had! It sounds like fun. Just what I would have needed, another Disney addiction. :rotfl:

I agree with the majority that only YOU could make a trip to the grocery store adventurous! Yay for Olive Garden! I love that place. I usually get the Lasagna Fritas (from the appetizer menu) along with salad (omg!) and breadsticks ().

I do love the detail of the Disney gift shops-- they don't settle for less than best at anything (be it a bathroom or a gift shop)!! I love those Scar buttons, haha. I was so tempted to buy one last trip, too!

Yeah, Stitch and Donald are two peas in a pod!

I still have a little bit of hope that they'll eventually bring it back!

Haha, thanks so much! I have a supermarket story in my other TR that's going on right now for my February trip too, haha. Olive Garden is so yummy! I know it's a chain, but it's just good food!

I do love the detail of the Disney gift shops-- they don't settle for less than best at anything (be it a bathroom or a gift shop)!! I love those Scar buttons, haha. I was so tempted to buy one last trip, too!

It's so amazing that they take the time for all those details. I haven't really looked at the details in bathrooms though. Haha, I guess I just go in and then out without paying attention.

I just spent all day reading this TR (pssst...don't tell my boss), and am enjoying each installment! Love the amount of photos you and Weird have taken - makes me feel like I'm right there with you on your fun journey. :)

Now I'm off to go check out your newest TR! :goodvibes

Ahhh, I love having new readers! Thanks for joining! It definitely encourages me to continue writing. I'll try to get through my 6th grade essays, and then maybe I can update one of my TRs!

Wednesday, April 7: Unmagical Fighting in the MK

After we took a spin on Buzz Lightyear, we headed to Carousel of Progress. If you remember a while ago when I started this trip report, I mentioned that Howard and I had one fight during the entire trip. It was odd because we don't fight EVER. I know it seems weird, but it's really because we fought a TON during the time that we were broken up for 2 years.

Haha, of course, that was then. Lately, we had a few arguments/disagreements due to wedding planning stress, but now that our reception is booked and we have our date decided, things have been much better! That's off the subject though!

Back to the trip report ... we were heading to Carousel of Progress!

A104.jpg

I was excited to see this again with Weird by my side because I had grown up always going to see this attraction. My dad would need a place to take a nap, so it was a must do! However, things changed during one of the scenes.

The four of us were pointing out hidden Mickeys or things that could potentially be hidden Mickeys. I don't remember exactly what happened since it was so long ago, but my mom apparently said something about the calendar in one of the scenes, and Weird passed it along to me (I think my mom and I were sitting farthest from each other). I made a comment that it wasn't anything important because I had already looked at it, and Weird thought I was snapping at him when I clearly wasn't. He said, "You don't have to snap at me!" and I said, "I didn't snap at you." Anyway, he was angry because he was just passing along what my mom had said, and I was really angry because he thought I was snapping when I knew I wasn't (why would I snap at something like that when we were all actively looking for hidden Mickeys or secrets)?

I leaned over to the other side for the rest of the show and didn't say anything. The bad thing about me is that I'm VERY stubborn. Like, seriously stubborn. If I believe I'm right, I won't relent or back down. If I'm wrong, I can admit it, and I can laugh at myself when I make mistakes. However, if I believe the other person is in the wrong, I don't let down so easily. I know I have to stop doing that because it can be an issue with pride because even now as I write this, I get a little upset thinking about this whole situation because I STILL don't like that Weird got upset with me over NOTHING! Haha.

Anyway, the show finished and we left the area and began walking back to Fantasyland. I wasn't talking to Weird at all. We both did take pics of the Mad Teacups when we walked by.

IMG_2892.jpg

I really liked the fact that they put the Mad Hatter hat on the exit sign. Disney could have so easily put the same exit signs for all their rides, but they made them different!

A105.jpg

We went to ride "it's a small world" even though it had a really long line. What would happen if we had to wait a while and not speak to each other? Haha, Weird took a picture of my ignoring him! On the way through Fantasyland, he did try to pull me aside to talk to me, but I just pulled away and made a comment about choosing not to talk to him because otherwise he might think I was "snapping" at him.

IMG_2894.jpg

While on line, I was excited to see that the clock opened up! I had read about it and was looking forward to one day seeing it. Again, it was too bad that Weird and I weren't speaking at the time.

IMG_2899.jpg

IMG_2905.jpg

Even though my picture isn't as clear, I really like that you can see all the people down below looking at it!

A108.jpg

Oh man, do you see ALL those people? It was clearly Easter week because who waits this long for IASW?!?

A109.jpg

These crowds were really not making us any happier. Plus, we wanted to make it to lunch earlier to use the coupons we received when we entered the park. I believe it was a 30% coupon if we dined before 11am, but I could be mistaken. We decided to skip IASW for the time being and head to lunch! Okay, were we STILL going to be fighting when we tried Columbia Harbour House for the first time?

I think we've all had those moments at WDW. I know Don and I have had our moments of being not so nice to each other, and yeah, it's usually his fault :lmao:

I love going in all the gift shops! There are so many things to look at! I've never seen the stars in the ceiling before, I'll have to look next time! :thumbsup2

Just because there is magic at Disney, doesn't mean there isn't fighting also. We've all done it
