Yes you can lose weight by just cutting back. I've done it but somehow it always manages to come back. I've lost 10-15 pounds by just cutting out stuff but it never stays off unless I get moving.
For us we go to the gym 3 times a week. We run all 3 days and do some ab workouts on the swiss ball.
The other 4 days we do Yoga. LOVE it! It really works you out but it also stretches you and tones you and it doesn't really feel like a workout. You get some cardio in by trying to keep yourself in whatever position you should be in but you also tone your muscles and stretch yourself. We have found that we sleep better when we do the Yoga than when we do anything else. We do it at night an hour or so after we eat and we both enjoy it. We have several yoga shows that we switch between so we never do the same workout during the week.
