Really need to get motivated to lose about 10-15lbs. I exercise but need to work on my snacking. Have done Weight Watchers...but never online. Is it worth the $ ? Seems like it would fit into my lifestyle better than attending meetings. Would love to hear what my Dis friends have to say about it.:)

I like it. I am not a meeting person. I have lost 15 since mid-Jan. But I need to lose quite a fee more!

What I like about it--I entered in my info--height, weight, age, etc. and they gave me a points value. The points value has adjusted as I've lost.

I think if you would use the Points Plus calculator to journal all the food/points you've eaten, then it might be worth it. You can journal all of your food at other websites for free. I find that if I have to enter it, I'm less likely to splurge on something bad for me. I have the points caclulator app on my phone, too (it was free, but you have to have a membership to the website), which I use quite a bit while grocery shopping. It's very handy. When I signed up I did it when it was buy 3 months, pay no registration fee. I figure if after 3 months I think I can go it alone, I may. but for ~$18 (I think--can't remember exactly) a month, I'll probably stick with it.

There's a recipe section that's great. You enter what you have on hand for ingredients and it gives you dinner ideas. Love that. I also use the Recipe Builder--enter in my own recipes and it calculates the Points Plus values of them.

Check out sparkpeople.com before you sign up for WW. It is free, and may meet your needs, depending on what you are looking for. You can track your food, excercise and water. There are lots of discussion forums.

WW is good... but free is better if it meets your needs! :thumbsup2

I second Sparkpeople.com! I was about to rejoin weight watchers when I stumbled upon it. It has everything ww has in regards to message boards, recipes, articles, etc but it's free! :thumbsup2

I loooove my WW Online. I've been using it off and on for over a year and have been very successful when I've been staying on points. I've lost 7 lbs since mid-January. When I'm on track, I lose about 2-3 lbs per week. I much prefer the online version vs the meetings as it fits my llifestyle much better.

I joined WW online in mid January as well and have lost almost 10 lbs. (I had my birthday thrown in the mix and celebrated a little too much) I love it! I have done sparkpeople in the past, but it didn't work as well for me. I think part of what keeps me motivated to keep working the plan is knowing that I have invested money into it. I could jump on and off of the sparkpeople plan with no real consequences (other than not losing the weight) but with WW I've invested in it and since I hate to waste money I keep at it even if I feel discouraged or like giving up. I also love the new points plus plan! It's really working for me and is worth every penny I have invested into it.

I guess I'm the odd one out. I've done both online and meetings. Even though I'm on the computer all the time, and for most things I'd rather do it online than in person, I didn't do well with WW online. I found I just couldn't hold myself accountable. The website was great, and the information was helpful, but I need the motivation of weighing myself in front of someone else each week.

Me too....I need the guilt of the meeting/scale. I'm a lifetime member but after two kids couldn't keep it off (YES- She's almost 6 but I was at my goal weight the day I found out I was prego with her!). I rejoined in Nov. hit goal a few weeks ago and changed my membership from the monthly pass to just etools. I'll go weigh in one more week. However, I've noticed my portion size increasing and my snacks changing. I'm going to go to a meeting only tomorrow.

I do love my eTools. I use them on my phone all the time.

Best tool other than the meeting is my kids asking, "How many POINT IS THAT mom?" Almost, makes me not eat it!:rotfl:

Same here! My kids are always asking me how many points something is worth ~ makes me not want to eat it if it's alot. Also, I find that they are eating healthier and making better choices too.:cheer2:

Weight Watchers life timer here...

I HATE THE NEW PROGRAM!!! Way too complicated.

Try myfitnesspal.com

it is totally free and totally awesome....

I'm also trying to lose 10 to 15 pounds. I downloaded the myfitnesspal app to my iPad and have lost about 1.5 pounds since Saturday. It's really easy to use and has most of the food I eat already entered. Best of all, it's free! They have a website, too, but I haven't used that yet.

I was a lifer who gained almost all of it back. (that's what happens when you don't track your points)

Just signed up for on-line WW and love it!

I think it is totally worth the money!

Good luck with whatever you choose :cool1:

i did weight watchers in college by following the books my mom had. then after college, i decided to try the website. it was a huge waste of money for me. i could not get used to the new points system, which was different from my mom's books.

i third (or whatever we're at now) sparkpeople.com. it's free, they have an iphone/ipad app and i find myself using it all the time to track what i eat. i also like that if i've eaten something that isn't generic, i can search and i usually find that someone else has already put the info into the database. i've lost 4 lbs since starting 2 weeks ago.

Just joined WW online with my Disney-lovin' neighbor and we both lost (7 and 3 lbs.) and wish we would've done it sooner! She has lots before on WW, but some miscarriages sent her into emotional eating. I lost weight 25 lbs on my own before I got preggo w/DD. But I was so sick my entire pregnancy that when I had her and coul eat normally again....I did just that! So I'm on WW to lose those final 15 that keep eluding me do to portion control.

Although I feel I know everything about exercise and healthy food, WW online keeps me honest and also is a quick and easy way to check out points values. So helpful!

That's was about 35 pound lost and am at 45 for 1 calendar year!

I do WW online because I would rather spend that hour working out/running than at a meeting. I am a computer person and find it fits my life. I also have an iPhone and use the WW app.

That being said, if you think you will only need it for a short time I too would recommend either myfitnesspal (which also has an app) or sparkpeople.

For what I needed to do WW online worked best.

I think WW is worth the money, but I need meetings. I could not do online only. I am a Lifetime member (I also work for WW) and when I made Lifetime, I still went to meetings, but the amount of meetings I went to dropped off a bit. I found myself struggling to maintain my weight loss, so I had to make a commitment to return to meetings. It is what keeps my head in the game and helps keep me accountable weekly, instead of only monthly (monthly weigh ins are required for Lifetime membership)

I love WW online and I think if you have a smart phone it is awesome. I just track my points and everything on my phone and it is really simple!
