Anyone doing WW and trying to go to DL or been to DL?
We are leaving next Wed and I am totally stressin out about food! I've lost 17 lbs so far and I don't want to gain while I am there!

I wouldn't stress too much. There's lots of healthy options there. Okay, well maybe some are not so healthy, but at least they're either low in fat or high in protein.

You'll have no problems finding fresh fruit, fruit bowls, and yogurt around the parks. It seems to be everywhere.

Many restaurants/eateries also have fresh salads on the menu (some with grilled chicken). Just watch out for the amount of dressing you use.:goodvibes

And of course, the Bengal BBQ can be a decent place to go grab a skewer made of meat & veggies. (These are delicious.)

There's several places to get soup in a bread bowl. Don't eat the bread bowl of course, and try to stay away from the creamy soups, but the chilli and the gumbo are pretty good.:thumbsup2

A turkey leg isn't too bad either, but they're HUGE, and can be split between four people!!!

I've come to follow this rule when on a diet at DL (or anywhere): "If it isn't potatoes, bread, or pasta, then eat it!" (I know that sugar is bad too, but when I'm on vacation, I do like to treat myself to cotton candy, or chocolate, a slushy, or something lighter like that, you know what I mean?):rolleyes1

Excellent advice from DSM, but add the fact that you'll be walking close to 10 miles each day, and you'll be surprised that you may lose weight, even if you cheat. I know I lost weight when I was there last week, but my only real treat was a Dole Whip and a few bites of cotton candy.

Congrats on the loss so far. I was at DL in November, walked seemingly constantly . . . and never counted a single point. I didn't "pig-out", but ate what I wanted including broccoli cheese soup with bread bowl (shared) and, on our last night, the 3-cheese Monte Cristo. I was scared to weigh-in, but actually lost half a pound. Walking (and water) really works I guess. They really do have lots of options though, if you want to stay true to the plan.

The hard part for me was getting back in line back home . . . I'm in Michigan, with snow and ice - can't walk all day around here. Curling up by the fireplace just doesn't burn enough calories : )

Good luck and have fun!

No advice, just wanted to wish you luck. I'm hoping I'll be at goal by summer, so I'll just have to work on maintaining during our DL visit in the fall.

Great advise from DSM and DangerMouse. I'm a life time member of WW and the first time I went to Disneyland I was so worried I would gain back all my weight. I decided to just eat what I wanted, within reason, and not worry about it. What DangerMouse said is so true! I walked so much that I didn't gain a pound...even when eating anything I wanted! Our hotel room had a microwave so I made oatmeal every morning and had some fruit. Then the rest of the day I pretty much ate what I wanted, but didn't crazy. Just relax, have a great time and don't stress too much about it! And congratulations on your 17 lbs!!!!

This is why I love this place so much!
Thank you guys for all the support and ideas! We have a kitchen in our room and we are taking breakfast stuff which should help. We are bringing snacks too like stick pretzels and granola bars. They don't weigh too much and the taste good and the kids like them too. Love the fruit stands at DL too!
Thanks again for all the support !

Don't worry so much. You'll have lots of fun. You can get fruit for snacks in a lot of places around the park. I also explained I was on WW and wanted to mantain my weight and they allowed me to purchase the kids meals (smaller portions) that come with vegetables and fruit. To be honest with you, I didn't think the food was that great in the parks that you'll be tempted to get off plan. Just have small snacks between "small meals", drink lots of water and you'll be fine.

While you may not be able to totally stay on program while at Disneyland. You can deffiently make good choices. Go to ***************** and you can find the menus for the eateries at the entire resort and outlaying area. Plan out what you might want to eat ahead of time, so you don't go in blind. And don't be afraid to ask (even at counter service) for modifications, if they can they will. And last but certainly not least at counter service order the kids meal and a side salad.

Try going on "Core" at least for one week before your trip. I don't know about you but it's much easier for me to do core than count those points. I feel less deprived. You could then have as many turkey legs until you're comfortable as you need.Congratulations on your weight loss. I wish I could say I was close to goal.

Dh and I are on it and we both did it at DL last month. Did not count anything and gained 4 pounds. We ate one dessert a day! Just make healthy food choices and you will be ok!

Thank you so much! I'm starting to feel much better about going. I'm on Phen so it helps me a lot to keep the roaring of my appetite a little quieter.

Sorry you gained 4 lbs! That totally sucks! But you'll take it off in no time! :cheer2:

I have been to WDW twice on WW and have third trip planned in March '08 and a DL trip planned in June '08. I usually do well and here are my "tips" for staying sane in the parks:

1. We never have a car available so about a week before the trip we contact Staples or Costco and have cases of water scheduled for delivery to our resort the day before our arrival. This helps us make sure we are keeping up with our water and we don't have to spend $2.50-$3.00 a bottle.
2. I don't eat breakfast in the food court at our hotel. If we have a character breakfast planned I will eat that breakfast but the rest of the week I take WW muffins or something I know is healthy and low in points to eat for breakfast. Then I get a fresh piece of fruit at the food court and have that with my water or decaf coffee.
3. I let myself splurge periodically and have some dessert but I have a firm rule that if I don't eat it here, I don't eat it there. I don't eat fried foods here, so I don't eat them there. I don't eat big 'ol fat laden hamburgers here, so I don't eat them there. All those things are available there but there are also some healthy choices available in the World. So I'm assuming and hoping that Disneyland will be the same way!

Good luck and congrats on the 17 pounds! Do you have very far to go until goal? I just celebrated 1 year at goal on December 1st.

Woo Hoo! Congrats! I can't wait til I get to that point. I hope you did something huge to celebrate! Buy a new outfit or something!
Thanks for the tips. We are going shopping tomorrow so that we have healthy stuff to take. The good thing is, my girls are eating more healthy now too. Of course, they are not doing WW but they are looking at calories and serving sizes and talking more about better choices. I feel like a much better mom since we all started this.
As for how much further I have to go....well.....44 more lbs! But only 3 more til my 10% goal! Woo Hoo! So many people have noticed already. And I measured myself on Friday and I have lost about an 1" on each part that I measured. My friend said that I am supposed to add those numbers together and say that I've lost that amount. But 11 1/2 inches lost sounds like I'm crazy! I know that I cannot loose all my weight without having to lose 1 lbs at a time.

My husband purchased me a lovely gold charm from James Avery for my 1 year anniversary. He's a sweetie.

Yeah, it's important to remember that. Sometimes you can get bogged down by how long it is taking...believe me I KNOW! I maintain a weight loss of 118 pounds. There were days that I just WISHED it would be over. But I'm very proud of myself and now that it's done and a year later I can see so many changes I have made in my life.

Good luck! Enjoy WW and enjoy your DL trip.

Wow! 118 lb loss for a year! You are a huge inspiration! Thank you so much for sharing. You give me a lot of hope that I can do it too!
