Anyone have any advice or pt conversion for any of the food at WDW. My hubby and I are on Weight Watchers and doing quite well I may add (pat pat on the back) lol
We are going to disney in June and are alittle nervous about the food.
Anyone have any suggestions>>>>have done this >>>>>> thanks

yes portions are big...but share food...also they will accomodate any requests like leaving off sauces..butter..oil ..etc...and when all else fails..just eat a salad....i am going in a couple of weeks..and i have a few weaknesses there...i am watching my weight and i am already giving myself the pep talk.....now lets see if i can follow through or cave ....cause man they have this popcorn at downtown disney..in the goofey candy shop that is covered in chocolate and has big chunky marshmallows in it....i am drooling just thinkin about it... ::yes::

I follow WW as well, but when I go to Disney, I eat what I want, I just don't overstuff myself. I usually gain a couple of pounds, but I find that weight that goes on quick comes off quick as long as you get right back to it.

Don't deprive yourself at Disney. It's part of the magic, especially at Epcot.
One thing that helps is if you share entrees, have a taste of the goodies that you want. One thing that also helps is don't keep junk in your room. That way you won't be tempted to snack on it.

I would also research the menus before you go and be informed going in. It never hurts to be prepared.

Have a great trip.

I've been to WDW while on WW and due to the amount of walking and trying just a little bit, I had little to no gain. Restaurants are very accomodating with special requests (sauces and dressings on the side, light on the cheese, share a dessert, order a half portion, don't bring bread to the table, etc.) At breakfast go for a reasonable portion of eggs, stick to wheat bread, and have ham instead of bacon or sausage. Order an app for lunch or dinner instead of an entree or split an entree with your hubby. If you know you're going to a place for a great dinner, pass on lunch and have a light snack (fresh fruit or a whole dill pickle) instead. Drink tons of water and drink only water or diet soda with meals. Save the alcohol points for later in the evening if you drink alcohol. Pack low point snacks in your suitcase, pre-portioned to bring to the parks. Get in the pool and swim as much as possible. Don't deny yourself anything, just use moderation and good judgement.

On your travel day home, wake up and get back on the program - don't use your last day to splurge (do that on the second to last day - ha!). This way, you'll be back on program for a full day before you get home and it will make the transition back to the real world a little easier!!!!!

For bonus activity points: Walk from EPCOT to MGM instead of taking the boat - visit the shops on the Boardwalk and enjoy beautiful views. If you go to DTD, get off the bus at the opposite end and walk to the other side (Marketplace to West Side or vice-versa).

Good luck with WW to you and your husband!

Don't worry. I'm a lifer too and when we went for our anniversary without the kids, we ate whatever we wanted to for 5 days but due to the many many miles we walked daily, I actually lost 2 pounds on the trip!

I have been on two week long WDW trips since I started WW the first of August. I agree with the poster that says not to deprive yourself. I didn't pig out, but at WDW I eat what I want when I am hungry. We do TS restaurants for almost every meal, I do not make special requests, I enjoy myself!!

The WW plan, to me, is a life long thing & in the scheme of things - what is a few weeks vacation a year?? It is working great for me so I don't worry about vacations.

We will be going back to WDW in March, and I am buying a whole new spring wardrobe!! Also looking forward to those almond covered prezels in Norway!! ;)

Good luck & don't worry too much - you may gain a few pounds, but once you return home and get back into the groove it will come right back off. :sunny:

here's a few quick tricks from my mom who kept her diet going while at disney - she actually managed to lose an extra ten pounds while we were there.

if you eat counter service for lunch and breakfeast don't pig out just because it's there. there's actually a lot of big portions of good and healthy stuff there. for breakfeast you can go for the classic american breakfast platter - just share it with someone. when it comes to lunch it's a lot easier since there's plenty of healthy choices on the menu, you don't always have to get the chicken fingers or the burgers. go for a wrap or a salad - they're huge, have lots of vegies and meat in them and they fill you up easily.

also another easy tip is to drink water with your meals instead of soda or whatever. it fills you up and gives you the impression of being less hungry than you are.

last but not least, have fun and enjoy your trip. it's okay to have a mickey bar, just not everyday. ::MinnieMo

Just Eat small portions you can do it ! resist that dumb temptation bug ! :cheer2: (this from a teen lol)

I was on WW for a few of our trips down there and I can say that I pretty much ate what I wanted to and with all the walking we did, I either came back at the same weight or lost a few pounds! there is no escaping the sheer number of calories you will be burning being on the go! Don't deprive yourself on vacation. It doesn't happen very often and as long as you don't have 3 5 course meals each day LOL there is no reason you have to eat salads all the time, unless you enjoy them. :)

Last time I was at WDW I was pleased to find as much fruit as I did, both at the parks & at the resorts. I had thought that getting the fruits & veggies in would be a problem but it wasn't. I typically had fruit & coffee for breakfast; I'm not a big breakfast eater anyhow.

Eats lots of salads, you'll be doing lots of walking [whether you want to or not!], so enjoy yourself. Remember, WW is about making healthier, life-long choices, not restricting yourself.

Have fun!

I just returned from WDW, and I did stray, somewhat from my points allottment. The extra walking helped and I actually lost weight.

I agree. I am not on weight watchers - I have a friend who can look at a meal (anywhere) and know how many points there are - at least a close proximity. I try to judge calories. When I was in Europe for two weeks last year, I walked and climbed more than I ever have (somtimes with a 20 pound backpack on), and yet I came home with an extra 10 pounds on (at least some was probably water weight, but I wasn't feeling well when I got back, and didn't exercise as much and the pounds stuck for a while).

Now, when at Disney, I try to be consistent. That doesn't mean I won't treat myself, but I won't go for a cinnamon bun in the morning - I'll eat oatmeal. When I was on the free dining plan, I did have dessert - and then walked extra loops around World Showcase (and we had many meals to bring home after the 3 days). I normally try to stick to 1800 calories - and I can allow myself more than that at Disney if I'm staying onsite and exercising a lot, but I still write everything down.

When I was in Miami Beach last year, the amount of walking we did kept the weight off for me. I didn't deprive myself, but I didn't make bad choices either. I allowed french fries once on the trip and substituted salad the rest of the time, and mostly stayed away from fried stuff. Walking on sand is a good workout!

****WOW***It is such a great feeling to know that we are not alone. It sounds like I just do what I do at home. Watch my portions, exercise and make sure I get my fruit and veggies in. Thanks so much for all your support. Hopefully, by the time we leave in June, I will be down close to 30lbs already and by then I will be more savy to the WW program anyway.
YOU ARE ALL GREAT!! THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Oh, you are so not alone!!!
I am a lifetime WW member, lost 75 pounds! (yes, I'm bragging :rotfl: )
but seriously, it can be done. Liek you said, get the fruit and veggies in. You will be walking a ton, so you've got the exercise thing covered. Drink plenty of water, especially if it is going to be warm. And don't torture yourself! If you're going to come home from WDW kicking yourself because you didn't eat your favorite dessert, then eat 1 and move on from it, forget, and do all the better the next day.
