Hi folks,

I asked this on the weight watchers message boards, but I got no reply. I'm wondering how much time to put in for activity points. For example, I play ice hockey and my games are 20 minute run time periods (60 minutes total). I play about half the game, and if you add in warmups I am vigorously skating/playing about 35 minutes. I rest about 45-90 seconds between shifts and my heart rate stays elevated during that time. How much time should I count for this? I've been entering 35 minutes, but I'm wondering if I can put in 65 minutes...

I had the same question for playing softball. We played softball at school on Friday for two hours. But it's way less of a workout than hockey. How should I list that?

I'm hoping the dis community can help me out. Thanks!

Hi. I was entering 4 activity points for my hour walk. After I got the WW pedometer I found out I was way over estimating. With the pedometer it only comes out to two points. I would probably put in about half of what you think it is. For the ice hockey you may be right, but I bet the soft ball is a lot less since you are not constantly moving. Consider getting the pedometer to track your points too. It has been a big help for me, it is much easier that guessing. :)

Depending on your body weight, Hockey burns between 550 and 725 Kcal per hour (150 lbs vs 200 lbs). Softball is between 350 and 450 Kcal per hour. Going back to hockey --- count the entire game time as activity. The body still believes and acts as though you are working during interval type activities. The short shifts in hockey are very much like running intervals or circuit weight training.

The old AP value was 1 AP per 100 Kcal. The newer version is about 80 Kcal per 1 AP

I did not give an exact answer but I Hope this helps
