Weight restrictions on the rides? Will I fit?

Going to Disney in December and so excited about it!! I was wondering is there is any rides I should try to avoid that will be hard for an overweight person to ride? This will avoid lots of embarassment for me since the weight gain I have had over the last three years is enough embarassment...
Thanks so much to anyone that can help!!

I don't know how to answer that question for you. I think it's more based on whether or not you can fit the ride more so than weight. I have seen some larger individuals that had no problems doing the rides.

I fear the only way you will know is to try to get on the rides :)

Disney rides are very friendly to "pooh sized" individuals. The only issues I know of are potentially getting through the way too small turnstile at HM, and it's possible to get around that; if you're shorter, getting into the ride vehicle of spaceship earth- again, doable, but the door part might be a bit of a sqeeze; astroorbiter and space mountain more so for tall people because especially in back in can be pretty squished, but with the new vehicles I don't know if that will continue to be a problem. There are ride vehicles available near the rides but outside of the queue if you want to try them out; you can ask a cm if you don't see them, but I really don't think you'll have a problem.

To OP. It depends on what your definition of overweight is. I'm a size 28 and am 5' 2" tall. I go on pretty much everything. DP is larger than me and taller, her only issue comes from needing more leg room because of the height and she's not a big thrill ride person and she doesn't like getting wet, although the kids guilted her in Kali RR last trip. She got the least wet of all of us (the ride knew).

Have a blast.

We go in 2 weeks and I'm hoping to ride TofT and Rock 'n Roller Coaster for the first time in 7 years. Not a size thing, just a neither of my kids were up to it in the past and back in April we never made it to DHS. Now they're ready and so am I. DP will wait at the bottom for us, I think she enjoys those shore moments of "alone" time (as alone as you can be at WDW with thousands of other people around).:goodvibes

I know for a fact that the any person at all weighty will not fit in the new "Sum of All Thrills", Raytheon's new area in Innoventions East. They have 'test' seats right near the entrance, if you're thinking about doing the "Sum" activity, try out the seats first. "Sum" is a simulator ride that you design yourself using advanced electronics and a two-person pod ride-simulator arm. The weight restriction has nothing to do with leaving out Pooh-sized folks but everything to do with the actual weight that the simulator arms are able to bear.

agnes!

My brother was there with his family this summer and he had no problem at Disney at all. He is over 6 feet and over 300lb. Space Mountain was closed but I think he rode pretty much everything else. But he did say he'd never go to Busch Gardens or Universal again because they are not "fat friendly". He said he couldn't fit on anything! After a couple of embarrassing tries he decided to stick to Disney.

We went Too Long Ago (see siggie) and the only thing that was awkward for me at 6 ft and 300ish lbs was Astro Orbitor and thats only b/c I was also trying to juggle my 18 mo old LOL I've also seen skinny ppl have a hard time getting out of this ride, so it may just be the ride :) Heck all 5 of us could fit in one 'pod' on HM and The Seas w Nemo w/o any problems :cool1:

there is a book about touring disney with disabilities, i believe the authors are some of the writers for allears.net. i forget the name but it has detailed info about that and room size, walking distance etc. i got it for info about dietary restrictions but found the photos and maps were better than any other book.

also this website has photos for you to look at if you are still unsure. http://allears.net/tp/gal_ride.htm

The book is called Passporter's Open Mouse and Deb Wills is one of the authors. You are correct that Deb is the 'owner' of the AllEars website.
