Weight restrictions for luggage?

Nope no extra fee.

No extra fee. Carry on bags need to be small enough to fit through a standard xray machine like they have at airports. And you have to keep your carry on bags with you until the staterooms are ready at 1:30 so don't carry on more than you can lug around with you until then.

There's no size or amount restrictions for the bags checked with the porters, but I would still try to keep weight of any one individual bag close to the 50 lb limit set by airlines. Why? Because a big part of the reason for the limit is to make it safer for the baggage handlers who need to lift the bags. The heavier the bags, the more likely they are to cause back strains and other injuries. So be kind to the baggage handlers and yourself and try not to pack bags that are way over that weight.

Just remember that if there is no weight restrictions for the boat.... there will be if you need an aircraft to get to/from the port.

not to hijack this thread, but how many carryons are you allowed? is it like the airport with a backpack/purse and a small rolling bag that fits through the X-ray scanner like at the airport? was thinking about brining the backpack with my important stuff and rolling hard suitcase for my bottle of wine- carried on of course- wrapped in bubble wrap.... just curious

You may bring as many carryons as you wish to wrangle until your room is ready. Only requirement is that it must fit through the scanner. If I recall correctly, the max size for carryons (posted by DCL) is 22X14X9.

Your carry-on bag must not be larger than 9" x 14" x 22".

The biggest thing is it must be able to go through the X-ray machine (if you're carrying it on).

I have had four carryons for one of our cruises....

- small rolling hardside filled with bottled water, ginger ale, some special diet food
- small rolling softside that is my medical items bag
- tote with "important things" like documents, purse and such
- tote with more food things and some other misc items (e.g. the full size shampoo and mouthwash we ordered from drugstore.com )

the totes stacked on the rolling bags so it was easier to move around.

The Cruise Contract (item #33) and the Terms of Agreement that you agree to when you cruise with DCL states "Each Guest is allowed to bring aboard the Vessel a reasonable amount of clothing and personal effects, not to exceed two (2) bags per person." This is why DCL's standard issue of luggage tags in the document packet is 2 per person. However, like nearly everything else, they do NOT enforce their own rules and policies. I have never seen anyone with excess luggage refused. As for the weight of a bag, I like to be able to comfortably and safely handle my own bags before inflicting them on a porter. Also, many of the crew members handling the bags on the ship appear to be the furthest thing from weight lifters (Check out your room host/hostess), so I always consider that when packing.

The weight ranges from 50-70 pounds. It's not limited to 50 just an FYI. Depending on your status as well with airlines.

No. In fact, large amounts of liquid like wine and water should be carried on not checked.
