This is my first time going to disney land and first time to ever leave Hawaii. I am 5'5 and 321 pounds and I'm terrified of it. I'm embarrased that I might try to get on a ride and won't fit so I'll have to get off and walk my way out and wait while people look at me. Yes, I know if I'm this scared I should do something about it and I am I am on a diet and lot's of excersise. I leave to disney land on June 15th and return the 21st but should I pass up the ride's? Will I fit into them? I'm probably sounding weird with this but I'm just nervous about it and don't even want to go but my father is making me. Please get back to me as soon as possible please. Thank you for taking the time to read this..

Outside of some of the attractions (before you join the queue) there is a place where you can test whether you can fit into the seat of that ride or not.

Please don't be nervous, be excited! This is your first trip! :thumbsup2

I'm sure it'll all be fine! Enjoy your trip!

At Disneyland, there is only one ride that's a problem: the Orange Stinger at DCA, because it has a weight limit.
Other than that, the rides should be OK. Just one thing: at Storybookland canal boats, if there is another larger person in the boat, don't sit next to that person, but on the other side of the boat. My mom was at one point afraid she would end up in the water, because 3 larger persons sat next to her instead of dividing the weight over the boat :) I will never forget the look on her face  :) (one more ride she won't go into anymore)

Really, there shouldn't be any problem. Go, and have fun!

PS: some rides, like the Indiana Jones one, have seatbelts. The CMs have seatbelt extenders, just in case. Also, I have heard the trick on those rides is: before you sit down, pull the seat belt all the way out!!

Another tip:

Sometimes the turnstiles are a tight squeeze. Simply motion to the Cast Member that you would like to use the wheelchair gate and they will happily let you through that way.

Have fun!

If you come on over to the DisAbilities Board, you can post your questions, too. Size concerns are considered a "special need" over there and you may get lots of good advice.

Do a little planning here ahead of time and try to relax and enjoy. As my mom always told me ( I was shy) don't worry about what others think, they don't pay your bills! HAVE FUN!!!!

That is great!!! Your mother is very smart.
And I agree w/everyone else- it must be extra nerve-wracking to be leaving home for the first time ever, but try noot to worry, you are going to have a GREAT trip!

We had concerns about this too! We found a site about it. Ill try to find it.
we had no problems at MK...Space Mtn might be a problem.

Epcot...mission space might be a problem

MGM ...Rockinroller coaster might be a problem

Don't worry about it. I weigh about the same as you but I'm about 2 inches shorter. I went on plenty of rides with no problem. I've been on Test Track, RockNRoller coaster, splash mountain, big thunder mountain railroad, etc. I didn't go on space mountain though cause I didn't feel too good that day, but other than that, I didn't have any problems.

Just go and have the time of your life. You'll never see these people again, so who cares what they think.

I totally understand your fears but once you get there you will see that many people look like you. No matter what we look like we're never alone in this world. God made us in many shapes and sizes and colors. Check out the diabilities page on here, they have good tips. There is usually a cast member at the entrances to the attractions and one of their jobs is to let people know if the ride might not be right for them. They won't embarrass you. Go and have a magical time! :wizard:

As Makua said so beautifully....go and have fun.. :cool1:

You should be planning your trip, meals, shopping, sights, all the fun stuff that a "countdown to vacation " includes!!!!!Put everything else out of your mind and concentrate on 'EXCITEMENT"

Don't worry about it! Disney is super-duper size friendly! I was bigger than you the last time I went to Disneyland, and the only one place I needed assitance was on the Golden Zephyr ride at California Adventure. I couldn't quite get the belt to fit, and the Cast Member came by and discreetly gave me an extender, and we were off!

Another thing to remember is that even if for some reason you decide you're not comfortable on a ride and don't want to go on, Disney does not make you do a "walk of shame" and fight your way back up to the front. They just quietly let you go right to the exit, so it's not like there will be tons of people staring at you.

I think once you get there you'll feel a lot better and you'll see a lot of folks just like us all around the park. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions!
