Congratulations on winning a trip to WDW. My brother is a big guy and has no problem riding the rides at Disney for the most part. The only one he won't ride is Thunder mountain because of the lap bar he is uncomfortable. He fits just not comfortable. Hope you have a great time!

Give Deb's site here, discussing WDW at Large. And make sure to check the many links in the left column of that page....

Congratulations on winning your trip, how cool is that!!!! :cool1: And welcome to the DIS, you'll find lots of great information and people here.

I just recently have stopped by the disABILITIES, having had the need for a scooter during my recent trip a few weeks ago, bad back and bothersome knees...getting old, LOL. I found all the info I needed right here and had a great time, scooter and all.

As for size, I am big too, tall, 6' 6". And I do find Disney does VERY well in accommodating ALL people, regardless of shape or whatever. You'll love it.

And again, congratulations, what a neat win!!!

Hi and :welcome: to both DisBoards and disABILITIES!

Generally there should not be much in the way of problems. The only things which have actual weight limits are the Segway Tours and the Horseback Riding at Fort Wilderness, which are limited to 250 pounds.

Many of the rides which may be tight have "testing" vehicles outside the ride.

There is a section called "WDW At Large" in the planning sction of www.allearsnet.com . In addition, the book "Open Mouse" which is available from either Amazon or www.passporter.com discusses all sorts of special needs and does give information useful to "Pooh-size" people.

I remember seeing this thread on another board:

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1607303

It has some helpful information for some rides, eg. which cars might have more room etc.

There are plenty of rides with bench style seating (Small World, The Land, Pirates of the Caribean, Jungle Cruise), where you would likely be totally comfortable, even if our unsure about some of the single seat type rides. Astro Orbiter and Dumbo probably wouldn't be much fun/comfortable but these are probably the least cool rides at WDW so you wouldn't be missing much.

Lastly this site has pictures of alot of the ride cars, which may be handy:

Congrats on your win!

I also just wanted to say "congratulations". Wow...what a great prize!---Kathy

Congrats to you! :thumbsup2 Have a wonderful time and please don't worry... WDW is very "bigger people" friendly! We went in September and I could ride everything I tried/wanted to. You will be fine! :goodvibes ENJOY!

Just remember to read the sections mentioned above, because with certain attractions, some rows may have slightly more room than others, so on those attractions, it best to request that particular row.

Always ask for the front row, there is more leg room and really helps. Also, don't sit and buckle on rides with seatbelts. I was 350 in 2003 when I went and had no problem with the length of seatbelts, but a tip I read~pull it out while standing and then buckle before sitting. If not, it is virtually impossible:goodvibes

I, too, just wanted to say CONGRATS to winning your trip! Disney is such a magical place - you'll have a wonderful time! :cool1:

The main problem is not the weight but other things like the chest girth, length of legs, and a very large belly. For me I have less of a problem as I can get a lap bar or belt under my belly and it will fit. I have not had problems with pull down chest type devices but have known people who due to their barrel chests cannot ride rides where the is a chest harness or bar.

I am west coast so If I make mistakes throw WDW popcorn please.
There was at DLR a weight limit and distribution thing with Alice in Wonderland because the vehicle had three wheels. Fat people usually were put in the back seat. At DLR I had a hard time getting out of the astro orbiter rocket ride because of the angle, position you sit in and it is a wee bit narrow. My friend had a hard time getting through turnstiles and narrow ride entrances like the tea cups and even dumbo. I had no problem has my weight is more upstairs, lol.

You can check youtube for ride videos if in doubt.
