So.....the new year rapidly approaches and I realize that I need to come up with the topics for next year's contests.

There were a couple of weeks were we didn't get a whole lot of entries, so I'm thinking we need a couple of new categories.

So this is the suggestion thread. If you can think of a topic that used to be there and want it back - let's hear it. If it's something new that has never been in the contest (like this year's B&W and HDR weeks) those are good too.

PLEASE this is not a flame thread for why you want category X to be pulled for next year or how HDR is the worst thing that ever happened to photography, etc............Just give me an idea for some new topics. I'm thinking we need about 5-10 new topics. If I hear an idea more than once in this thread it will have a better shot of getting in.

Also as this is the end of the year....if anyone wants to see no management of the weekly photo contests, send me a PM and I would be more than bow to the will of the people and let someone else run things. Not saying that I want out, but if someone else really wants in, I would defer.

Great job, ChiSoxKeith. And thanks for running the contests.

The only thing I would ask.....is that the contests include Hong Kong Disneyland as well. Not that I'm the resident expert on HKDL but it does seem to be the forgotten park. ;)

There's no good reason why HKDL isn't included (or Disney Sea for that matter). I'll make sure the rules are modified to allow them going forward.

Did we have a Disney in Black & White contest this year? If not, I'd love to see that.

I think the more open-ended contests get more entries. Like "color" and "food" got a lot of entries. Special events don't seem to get so many entries because not everyone is there for those. WDW park-specific contests got a lot of entries, but Disneyland did not... but by doing a lot of WDW-only contests, we're excluding people who don't visit WDW often but the other Disney Parks or Disney cruises. I like the more open-ended contests that could work for any Disney property because it's not just whose picture of the cruise ship is better, but also how creatively you're interpretting the topic.

So, on that broad note.. a few things coming to mind right now are

"It all started with a mouse..."
"When I grow up..."

Maybe some interpretation of song titles, doesn't have to be specific to the movie but however anyone wants to swing it...

"When you wish upon a star..."
"Under the sea"
"Tale as old as time"
"Hakuna matata"
etc.

I like that............Good idea.
