I just made tentative plans for a quick 3 night stay in early Dec - three goals in mind 1) Disney! ;) 2) Birthday 3) Christmas spirit boost.

Question for those of you who've done quick flights in/out how relaxing is it? I really really want to be in Disney this whole week, but school schedules rule. I won't bother with spending the 47 points if it's going to be too hectic.

Question for those of you who can recall what the Weekends in Early december are like: Are the parks crowded with locals?

Hearing your experiences would be helpful :wizard:

Weekends are always busier than weekdays. We sometimes skip the parks on the weekends and do other things. To us a short stay isn't worth it, you barely get unpacked and it's time to go home.

Rushing to wait in line isn't something that a seasoned DVCer does. :goodvibes

We've enjoyed 3 night weekend stays. Over the years, we've done that over MLK jr. weekend, for the F&G in May, MNSSHP in October and finally, in December to see the CP when a particular person we knew would be singing in the chorus.

We usually have specific things to do in mind and we get them done. Of all of the times we have been for just a weekend, the hardest for me to enjoy has been the F&W because we have found the crowds too large for us to enjoy waiting in lines for little bits of food on the weekend. However, since it's a 3 night stay, you should get somewhat of a reprieve on the non weekend night.

We're planning to "do" NYE again in 2010, and I asked Dh if I should plan on taking a long weekend early in the month for the Christmas Spirit you mention. DH thought we could do without it, so I asked if it was OK with him if I went with a friend, because I do think that going to WDW, and especially doing the Candlelight Processional is a great way to prepare for Christmas. DH suddenly changed his mind,:rotfl: we're both going to do a long weekend early in December and then we'll head for the NYE festivities!

Two opposing viewpoints ... love it. :goodvibes

Thanks DisneyNutz & Bobbi. I'm the type who can be perfectly content hanging out on my resort balcony, which in itself says I like a slow pace. However, I am certain I will be dying for the Disney holiday feel come November & although the kids need to shuffle off to school the next morning, I'll have vacation days still to take.

I think I'll hold onto the reservation for now and call it my b-day gift to myself - nobody likes to return a gift :wizard:

My DH and I are doing a quick 3 night kids-free trip in early December for our first trip "home" to BLT!!!

I did it a few years ago--flew in Friday AM and left Monday afternoon. Because the crowds were substantially less than the summer crowds we were used to, we saw everything we wanted in 1/2 the time!!

We went to MVMMCP and in 4 hours, we got on every ride at MK and loved the experience. There is nothing like it! The decorations were beautiful and even though it was a short trip, we felt is was more relaxed and enjoyable than the week long 4th of July trip we did a few years back!

Enjoy and have a lot of fun!!!

I'd say that this is the biggest factor in whether or not you can handle a 'quick' trip to Disney. When my DH and I were still "commandos" we went for a long weekend trip in May one year and while of course we had fun the stress of the plane travel (which we definitely do not enjoy) combined with the utter devastation of having to leave so quickly had us saying never again! The worst part for me was having to cram in all of the you-can-only-get-this-at-Disney treats in 3 days and having a stomach ache afterward (yes - I have no self control) :rotfl: Anyway, now that we've had a bunch more trips under our belts and don't HAVE to do everything while we're there and can even relax a little in our room :scared1: we have said we might be able to handle a weekender better and are considering doing a long weekend in December for the Xmas rush as well. So, since you can take things a little more slowly, a weekend might be enough to be able to enjoy yourself thoroughly. In any event, it's certainly worth giving it a try to find out! ;)

Totally agree with with permavac.:thumbsup2 We love running away for a weekend almost as much as a longer trip. People always ask us how we can still like going after doing it so often. I say it is like having a house on a lake or at the beach. It takes a few hours to ge there and you then chill for the weekend and head home on Monday. We fly right out of our hometown on Southwest and the travel is no big deal. There is a reason we are DVC members...WE LOVE DINEY!!:worship: And we want it as often as possible.
