Week before Xmas Question

Hello: Please forgive me if this is not an appropriate question (if so, feel free to tell me to bug off!)... as I am not an owner (yet!... would like to be!!!).

We rented points for our upcoming trip at SSR and we're so excited!

I am trying to talk DH into another trip when we visit the folks for Christmas... looking at roughly Dec. 18-23 (the weekend where the mobs may hit would be Dec. 20????).

I doubt I will be able to talk him into committing until after our June trip. We may like to rent points again... is that week before Christmas INSANE and DVC is filled up well in advance? I know we will have passed the 7 month window by the time I would book. I would like to try a new spot, I am guessing only OKW/SSR would be open.

Just an idea... I love planning my NEXT trip and I haven't even gone on this one! I will stop checking every detail on the DVC's and focus on the regular resorts if you say, based on past experience, there is no chance of getting one!

The week before Christmas is INSANE and DVC is filled up well in advance. You know you have passed the 7 month window by the time you would book. I know that you would like to try a new spot, I am guessing only OKW/SSR might be open.

Actually the 7 month window isn't passed yet. I called member services this weekend and found out that All resorts have 1 and 2 bedrooms at this point for the 16th thru 23rd. OKW and SSR had studios. I was told that if I was flexible with when I wanted to go I could get a week in a studio unit at any of the resorts at other points in December. Personally I'm aiming for the 14th thru the 21st. and making calls everyday starting on May 14th to get my studio at Wilderness Lodge. As of Saturday there was limited availability. Now this could change before the May window opens, up, but I'm hopeful.
You could always book if you have current year points and then in June when you choose if you can or can not go release the points without penalty. If you are borrowing the points to make the reservation, then I'm not too sure what to say. Good luck either way!

Thanks that's about what I figured!!! I just need to be an owner! I'm guessing after that 7 month window things will get more full.

I'll take the boat down to OKW and check it out when we're at SSR!!

Now if I can just get DH to say we can go......

Scheduele a dinner at Olivia's at Old Key West and take the boat from SSR for that. It's a nice trip and good food!
