Trying to decide on time of year to visit. We are Disney World regulars and this will most likely be a one and done Disneyland trip for us (coming from the east coast so 6 hr flight). Our main drive to visit is for our Cars obsessed son. We are trying to decide time of year. We are considering the week before Thanksgiving of 2023 or June of 2024. We were also considering May because the prices look better (was playing with dates for this year to get an idea of pricing), but we're undecided. We've learned from our Florida trips that pulling the kids from school and having them go right back when we get home doesn't seem to go well. If we do the week before Thanksgiving then they have the whole Thanksgiving break to "recover." If we do May, they'd only have a weekend. We typically do summer and around Thanksgiving for Disney World. Is one better then the other for Disneyland? Thoughts?

We are also DVC so I will attempt to snag a 1 bedroom, but know my chances are pretty low so we'll do a hotel as a back-up. June of 2024 looks tempting since I'm hoping the new tower will be open and we might have a better chance of snagging a room on points. Also makes an add-on look tempting :)

The week before Thanksgiving is when we were just there. I recommend it. Everything is Christmas themed, and you get ride makeovers that they don't do at WDW too. Carsland is stunning when decorated for Christmas. Crowds are not too insane (well, they are always kind of bad in recent years, but the week before Thanksgiving week is not the worst). We were in the parks Nov 14 - 19 this year. Disneyland was open until midnight each night. Crowds thinned down a lot after the fireworks and you could get on lots of rides with minimal waits. We aren't early morning people, so I never arrived before 10AM, and normally took a few hours break in the afternoon/early evening. You could get a LOT done after 10PM.
