Week before President's Day--low season?

I've heard this before, is it still true?? Is the week before President's Day still low on attendance? Does anyone know how it compares if we were to go 2 weeks before President's Day? (it still incorporates *value season* then)

Is there a place that I can look up these stats?

Was there last year the week before and it was not too busy. Was also there the week before in '99. It seemed as if there were a few more people there last year than in '99 but not enough to slow us down. Lines were fairly short and that time of the year the parks close early.

Presidents Day weekend definately ends the value season, and Im pretty sure Ive read that it gets really crowded that weekend. My Birnbaums Book lists this..

The 2nd week in february until presidents'week- average attendance.

Presidents week- Most crowded

End of February through 2nd week of March- Average attendance

2nd week of January through 1st week of February- Least Crowded

and this on rates.....

2004 value rates- january 1- february 11
2004 regular rates- nothing in february
2004 peak rates- february 12- April 17

Value season ends on February 16th in 2005.

Presidents' Day is February 21, 2005. It is later in 2005 than it was in 2004.

Oh, good! So we can still get value rates in Jan & first week in Feb and it is low attendance. MN winters are horrible, so we would love to be in Disney!

Be aware that February 11-15th is the UCA Cheerleading National Competition. There will be a lot of cheerleaders running around the resorts and parks that weekend. I might be there with mine if they make it (heaven help me).

Do you know if the cheerleaders normally stay at the AllStars?
I thought that was what I heard.

I think most of them do, but I saw someone post last year that there were some at the moderates too.

the week before President's Day/Week. Yes, the attendance was very very low. Quite nice!

However, when Friday approached...the gates of #*%@ opened up and the entire Northeastern US entered WDW. It was the most amazing transformation I have ever seen. Craziness! So, please please please leave well before the Friday prior to President's Day. Good gracious - I think it must be worse than 4th of July and Christmas.

We will be there the week prior to President's Day for 2005. DH will be taking a Disney training class. DS and I will spend the days at the parks. DS's birthday is that Friday, but we will have done most of the things we'll want to do, ride-wise, prior to Friday, so if it is crowded that day, it won't be TOO bad for us. Also, we'll be staying at the Boardwalk (as part of the training expense), so fortunately we won't have to deal with the noise/crowds at the Values. We were at ASMo in the spring during Magic Music Days, it was a nightmare!!

lilpritch04 - I have the 2004 Birbaum's The Official Guide for WDW. I buy one every year... and I dont know why.. i just HAVE to have a new one! I can almost write my own! LOL.

In the book in lists a chart for attendance. It lists everything you need to know. 2005 is out I think. I remember getting my 2004 book last year in October of 03. Gives you prices of rooms at all times of year, weather info, ticket prices and options, value dates, etc. All the important stuff!! I might get the 05 next time Im at the Disney store!! ( thats where I get mine!)

We will be there from January 28-February 5th or 6th. Hubby says SUnday is Super Bowl SUnday and we have to be home for that- heaven forbid!!

Where do you think you will be staying? We are staying at Movies. Weve done all the value resorts except music. We like the values!!

We were at WDW 2/1-2/8 2003 and it was the least crowded I have ever seen it. MK was abit crowded in the afternoon but the wait in lines still wasn't bad. Epcot was so quiet. It was a great time to go and get to really check things out.

Feb. 8th is Mardi Gras this year, which will always bump the crowds up a bit as there is a mass exodus from N. O. to WDW AND from the entire southeastern portion of the state. Do not underestimate this - most of the school children have at least three days off and many have the whole week. You will see lots of purple, green and gold the week of Mardi Gras.

How much busier will Mardi Gras make things? We will be going to MK on the 10th of Feb. and MGM on the 12th. I thought we would be beating the crowds and now I am worried!

kids are off the week of the 8th? I thought most were off on week after presidents day, the 21st? We will be there Feb 9th -19th...this is getting very confusing, lol. I'm starting to think AMerican schools are off all of Feb, lol.

I just noticed Feb. 8 posted as Mardi Gras. We will be there with grandkids 2/5/05 - 2/12/05. Does Disney do anything special on that day? Thanks for the info.

I was there the week before Pres Day this last Feb (left the Friday before Pres Day). the crowds were low, but had started to pick up somewhat on Thursday, but a lot by Friday.
