Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

I too am getting up at 5:30 central time so I can roll out of bed and drive up to McDonald's and use their wifi to book my FP tomorrow. My internet is not so good and I don't want to book from my phone since it's a party of 5 it might be trickier. I reallly hope I can get FEA on 12/1 before 2:30. Otherwise we might just try and rope drop it. It's an EMH morning and the wait times on those mornings haven't actually been that bad. But it's a 1/2 mile walk from the entrance and while DH and I don't mind that...dragging 4 kids 7 and under might take a while.

5am McDonald's runs for wifi is some serious dedication to Disney ;) hope the payoff is worth it!! Good luck :)

This is part of the paid subscription. And after looking at the standard rooms at sports I think I will send a fax too - there are a small number of standard rooms on one side of an otherwise preferred building. Super close to transport and the main hall. Lets hope I get lucky this time!

Where is a good map of sports? The only thing I know is that football is the best standard. Do you actually get to request a specific room?

I have a room only reservation for 11/27 and then Vacation package with free dining 11/28-12/4. Will I be able to make FP for the entire trip tomorrow or thursday?

I literally have no clue what to do with my last 2 days for FPs! I'm having a mini freak out. Might be a late night for me. :badpc:

If you use Touring Plans' Room Finder you can see that preferred is only in the Surf's Up section. So from there just poke around choosing different rooms and see what each says about what walking distance is to the lobby and buses. It's generally recommended that you make non-specific requests, like x section, 2nd floor, close to transportation, etc., in order of how important those things are to you. You can also give example room numbers, which that site will show you for each room. So if you see a location or view that you want it'll say to ask for, for example, "Bldg Touchdown!,Flr 1,ENE-facing room.Exmple:7158,7157,7159,7156,7160,7155,7161" but that's just a guideline. More basic requests are your best bet.

ETA: based on their estimates of walking distance, it looks like building 10 is your best bet, so I'd ask for that AND say 'close to transportation'. If you don't have a strong preference for what floor you're on or that you be near, say, an elevator, a smoking section, parking, etc., just leave those off, since fewer requests make it more likely you'll get what you are asking for.

Pretty sure everyone thinks I'm crazy...but I am looking forward to a pumpkin spice latte! Plus I don't have to worry about waking up the littles and then getting distracted by them! And if I can get it done quickly enough maybe I can get some pics uploaded to snapfish from our 2015 trip and finally get my kids autograph books finished!

Good luck to all the FP tommorow!!

We'll be cheering! :cheer2:

Thank you, so sweet!

Are you a TP subscriber? If you go to your dashboard then select request room towards the top - it's a best way to see each building layout and even includes views from each room.

The NE side of 10 in touchdown is all standard and super close so that's what I'm shooting for! I want to face AWAY from that giant LOUD football field haha

You've got to be so frustrated!! Hang in there! Hopefully you'll have some pixie dust headed your way!

Thanks, guys. I'll be better on Thursday when this all gets straightened out one way or the other. I almost wish we just hadn't been able to book ANY fastpasses this morning.

Truly, good luck to everyone who gets to try booking in the morning! I hope it all runs very smoothly for you and you get what you wanted when you wanted it! pixiedust: :sail:

No one here thinks your crazy! Or crazy loves company

Making autograph books? I would love to see pics!

Hmm, I was disappointed not to see room request guidelines in the 'official' ASSp thread. I know for some they tell you whether the resort accepts/takes into account faxed requests, how far in advance to send them, and what the fax number is. From POFQ I know (IIRC) they say you should be sure you give a general idea of what you want when you book. Then I believe when you do online check-in you can make further, basic requests, like what floor. Then if you want you'd probably send a fax about 5 days before you arrive and hope the room assigner people use it. Nothing is guaranteed of course, though.

ETA: and it should go without saying, but make sure none of your requests contradict each other! :P

Regarding room requests...my experience has been this:

2014 trip stayed at the Grand Floridian. We had 4 rooms booked with our family. I checked in online but did not put in any requests in. The requests were made through the TA and we got everything we wanted, all with 4 rooms in a row (2 sets of connecting rooms).

2015 trip stayed at POR. We had 5 rooms booked, but 2 were booked Preferred and with a TA (not our room). I called Disney and had all the reservations linked. Then I sent in a fax request with all our confirmation numbers asking us to be put close together. I believe I also did online check in and asked for ground floor in Alligator Bayou (the rooms that sleep 5). I assumed we would automatically be put there since we had a party of 6. But when we arrived they had 4 rooms together all in the Mansions section which sleep only 4. They said it was fine for us since 2 of our kids were under 3. Then that other 5th room wasn't linked properly and off by itself. They ended up switching just our room to the AB section so we had the extra bed. Everyone else was together in the mansions. It all worked out in the end, but a bit of a hiccup. I feel like I messed it up by calling, faxing and doing online requests.

This trip we are staying at CBR and my primary request is ground floor. I do have a TP subscription but since I don't know what exact room I want and honestly don't really care I was thinking of just calling Disney and adding ground floor, close to parking lot as my 2 requests. Then not filling out the request section of the online check in so as not to confuse them.
