After reading several posts on here about how wonderful and non-crowded the week after Thanksgiving is, we decided to try it this year. Now I am reading some things that have me concerned that it might not be so non-crowded as I thought......any thoughts?? :confused3

(Of course we're still going anyway, but would like to know what to expect/plan for....)

That's when we're going.

See you there along with everyone else who's going for the "low crowds".

:goodvibes

Looking forward to making this year the eighth year in a row for that time, best time of the year IMO. Crowds, though somewhat greater the last few years than some years back, are still among the lowest of the year. Sign up for TGM to plan what days/what parks (works like a charm), and you will thoroughly enjoy the lower crowds, great weather, value priced resorts and the Christmas decorations and attractions.

Do you have a choice??? We've gone both the week after Thanksgiving and the week before Thanksgiving. I love the week before, here's why. The first week-end of that week the Food and Wine Festival is still going on, it's the last week-end of it, it is also the week-end of the Festival of the Masters Art Show. It is also Soap week-end and the last week-end of Jersey week so it can be crowded. BUT we love the Food and Wine Festival and the Art Show so Saturday you could do the Art Show, Sunday the Food and Wine Festival. (Saturday the Food and Wine festival was a zoo this year, Sunday MUCH better, esp evening.)

THEN Sunday people REALLY start to exit big time. Christmas decorations are going up everywhere. MK will be decorated for sure, gradually by the end of the week most things are up, Christmas music will be playing, this year there is even a MVMCP early planned I believe. The Osbourne Lights are up and running. The only Christmas thing you miss is the Candlelight Processional, which IS really nice. BUT the big thing is that it was the least crowded week I've EVER attended!!! All those amenities, plus low attendance.

The week after Thanksgiving used to be really not bad, but I think the "low crowd" publicity has made a big difference over the last 3 years or so and it is definitely more crowded than the week before Thanksgiving. We were surprised last time we went that week the difference between even the year before. We went 2003 and 2004 that first week in December. Last year, 2005 we went the week before Thanksgiving in November and discovered that one. Now dont' tell anyone!!!!!!! LOL

You're basically trading the Food and Wine Festival, Art Show, Soap Stuff, if you like that and a very uncrowded park for the Candlelight Processional. Those would be the different plusses. The rest of the stuff, decorations, MVMCP, Osbourne lights, Christmas atmosphere are pretty much the same.

Can't really change it now - already have our MVMCP tickets for Nov. 28. We are looking forward to all the holiday goings-on (decorations, MVMCP, CP, etc.). We have been T-giving week before and it was as crowded as I would want to deal with. Even Spring Break was better than T-giving. I'm hoping the week after T-giving will be better even than Spring Break was! But we'll be there and be having fun no matter what! And since this is our 6th trip (2nd this year because we bought AP's) we can relax a bit and just enjoy the surroundings instead of feeling so rushed. I think it will be a great way to kick off the Christmas season!

We went last year at this time and felt some days like we had the parks to ourselves. Great time to go. We even had one day where we did not have to get off SM and BTMRR because there was on one waiting to board these rides. I dont think you will be disappointed at all. The decorations are also a bounus. I loved hearing all the Christmas music being played in the parks and resorts. It was cool to be in shorts and hear the Christmas music.
