Week after July 4th

We have found ourselves narrowing down our dates for Disney to July. It looks like the week after July 4th... (5th - 13th). I know July crowds are horrible... but is the week after July 4th better than the week of at all?

Maybe a little--it's so tough to judge these things.

I've always believed summer crowds build in the early parts of June at a steady pace until the week of July 4th, where they peak. After that, they steadily decline until mid-August, where they drop off to normal levels again. That's my summer crowd picture in a nutshell.

Since your dates are the exact dates I am also going, I am sure it will be the worst - that is my luck haha. I am locked into that week because my DD's Sweet 16 is on the 8th and she wants to be at Disney. I am hoping that since July 4th is a Friday, people will have taken that week of and therefore only have to use 4 days of vacation if they work a Monday to Friday schedule. I figure the 5th will be bad with those people but that is our arrival day so we are just doing DTD and not a park. And then hopefully people will head out Sunday the 6th and it won't be as bad?? That is what I keep telling myself!

We went July 13 - 21 last summer. It didn't feel any more crowded than June to me. There were crowds, but nothing more than normal summertime crowds.
